Most loads in and out of Michigan are Kraft dedicated or are crossing into/out of Canada. My hubby is from Detroit area and it is almost impossible to get loads in. For the first 2 years we had to deadhead (unpaid) after delivering in the Chicago area. Now that he has some seniority we are able to 'pull strings' to get loads closer in. For that reason, Stevens does not hire many drivers out of Michigan area, same for Florida. If you can get Canadian approval and are willing to run into Canada you shouldn't have any problems. Good luck.
Stevens solo or Team..?

Not sure who you've been talking to, but after you finish training (I know you are still in Orientation) the miles drop considerably. Trainers tend to get good miles because there are 2 drivers. Solos tend to get average of 2600-2800 miles weekly, some weeks better some worse!!

I realize that. I was just giving general information in comparison to other starter companies.

Stevens prefers husband/wife teams because all $$ goes to same household, no disagreements about split. Not sure about cpm for company teams, hubby and I run Alliance. We get $0.86 cpm plus fuel surcharge which is currently around $0.46 cpm. Miles tend to be around 4200-5000 per week, we chose not to run full-blown team miles most of the time. We had some weeks during the winter that we had to scream, cuss, scratch, and claw to get 3000miles. The possibility of 6000+ mile weeks is there, but everything has to fall in place AND your DM has to work to keep you rolling, a couple of hold-ups at docks and the week is blown.

Many from florida, especially south, are being told no by stevens. They don't need any more drivers from that area.
Detroit also is hit and miss. Lots of frieght into and out of canada, very little into michigan.TRKRSHONEY Thanks this.
