The original poster can give you a for sure answer on this, but from what I have seen here in the oilfields, if they provide housing, it is ONLY for you and will most likely be shared housing with another driver. I have yet to see a company that will let a spouse stay on property. Probably has to do with insurance. If your wife will be coming down, you will most likely need to see if you can find a house or apartment for rent, or do like a lot of other couples do and bring an RV down to where you are looking to be working and find an RV spot. My husband and I moved an RV to where we are working. Different area and different company, and we are both drivers. They do provide housing, however is is what they call a "man" camp and they wouldn't let us stay there since I am female. I personally wouldn't want to be the only female in one of those camps and I wouldn't want you to put your wife in that position. Most likely there wouldn't be any problems, but it is just best to avoid the situation. Good luck!

Starting pay for drivers working days is 16.75 per hour, nights is 17.75 per hour. After 90 you do get a raise. The idea of the number of hours per day varies a little. You can pretty much guarantee on 12 hours per day. Monday I did 15 1/2 hours. I was a relief crew and was relieved at the end of my shift.

Equipment: Mack pinnacle daycabs and a few Kenworth daycabs. If you are used to a spotless truck, you are in for a shock. Where we go there is so much mud and dust and mud, and more mud. You will look inside the cabin the first time and want to barf because it is such a mess. After a few days you get used to it.

Lease roads: I came from a career of driving on nicely paved highways that had very few potholes and other irregularities. You will be driving on a lot of 2 lane roads just to get to the county roads on which the sites are located. The county roads on the other hand are an absolute mess. A lot of pot holes, huge craters. If you do not like getting bounced around a lot (like me), you will end up swearing a lot because the roads are so rough. Some of the well sites are very well lit, others have absolutely no lighting at all.

Housing: As mentioned in previous replies, the cabins I am staying at are the Stockdale Lodges. They are described by Stevens as 2 bedroom cabins. That is not completely accurate. Think of it more as a 1 bedroom with a loft area. The bedroom has a closet, but no dresser. The loft has nothing for clothes storage. Each sleeping area has a queen sized bed, two nightstand and flat screen tv. Also, each area has a multi function air conditioner/heater. The bedroom has 2 lamps and a ceiling fan. The loft on the other hand has 1 lamp with some overhead lights in the ceiling. The loft also has steeply angled walls (ie roof) which means there is not a lot of usable space. You will be sharing the downstairs with your roommate. There is a fully functional bathroom, with nice shower. Standard kitchen appliances including a stove, microwave, double sink, fridge, coffee maker all supplied by the cabin owners. There is also a full size washer and dryer for your use as well. In the living room there is a loveseat, small 2 person table and a tv on a stand.

Great information. Thanks. I'm looking to get into the tanker division when the time is right.
