I don't know what mountains your running down at 65mph but I don't want to be near you if you are.

Just came through Monteagle and the posted speeds for loaded trucks was 25-35 mph on a 6% grade. If you can do 65 down that hill go for it "super trucker". I just pray you don't kill anyone.

And yes I know there are steeper mountains than this. Just used this one because it was fresh on my mind.

    SheepDog and clbell66 Thank this.

ummm, welcome to trucking and pulling reefers out of meat plants. This is an industry problem with meat shippers, all other trucking companies wait.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. What does it matter if you have to wait for a load, if you're getting the miles each week? Waiting is the name of the game with a refer. Every refer puller I know has the same issue.
You don't want to wait? Go drive for Fedx.

Can't drive all the time... 70 hour rule

Use the time at a meat plant to take care of business... no trailer, bobtail makes shopping so much easier. And it is personal conveyance, does not need to be logged.

As for setting at a meat plant, I have never set at the actual meat plant for more than a few hours. I always roll back to town.

Are you sure? They told us in class we would have to log that. Or maybe I misunderstood. I will ask my trainer tommorow.

If all goes well, I'll be leaving on the bus Friday for Dallas. From everything I've read, Stevens sounds like a good starter company for new grads. Can't wait to get rolling.

I can only speak as an alliance operator, since I pay the bobtail insurance and the fuel bill, yes it is personal, and does not need to be logged. The key is, it must be personal, if I buy a gallon of oil for the truck at Walmart while loading up on water and food, that will negate the personal use, As I bought something for the truck, and it was trucking business. Fine line to walk.

Now according to DOT I can even be pulling an empty trailer, so long as I return to the same place I started at. Stevens says, pulling a trailer must be logged.

Clear as missississippi mud aint it???:biggrin_25521:

Cool, yea Alliance is probably different. If any of you get by the yard in Dallas in the next 2 weeks, I would love to meet you in person.
