Stevens specks the interior as cheaply as possible. No desk, no couch. 66 is as high as they go, unless the truck title is in your name. Wait a few months and try again. And I do consider 10k a month just an okay month. 12k is much more profitable.

Miles ran 1137... Went home for the week :)

    Miles paid 1015

    transflowed 877, my trip home

Well all in all a slow week. Started on the yard, got my bobtail pass to head over to ThermoKing to get the radiator core replaced on the APU. A design flaw that TK is aware of. 11 am I ready to roll, and have to find out if I can get a load bobtailed off the yard. At noon, get a load from Cott Beverage to Cheyenne WY, but I have to go over to Kraft and pick up an empty, Cott does not have any. Oh Well, at least I don't have to go back to the yard, although it is a 40 miles round trip to get an empty, 40 miles I will not be paid for. The yard is also a 40 mile round trip.

Arrived at Cott before 3pm, get a door, for a 5pm appointment, and they had me loaded before 5pm. Head out, and Stop in wichita falls for fuel and call it a night. I can make the outskirts of Denver on tuesday. The loves card reader scratched the magnetic strip so badly on the fuel card, it will not ready anymore. And I have just left the yard. And the Fuel dept will not mail a new one to my home. But they did put me on the bad card list, so the fuel desks don't have to call in to get authorization. Still will have to walk in twice now. Oh well.

Have a good drive up 287 until the construction between Wild horse and I70. One lane road, so had a long line of trucks. Now it is only 12 miles to the interstate from the end of the construction, but some of the trucks just had to pass. Could not wait the 12 miles, and run along at 60 mph.

Got to Walmart, made my delivery, and headed home for some much needed R&R.

for the first 4 months of the year, I have ran and been paid for 12% more miles. This year, 45,000 miles, last year 40,145 miles.

Glad you got some home time - sounds like you really needed it! What do you do with the truck when you are home for the week? Do you take it with you or have to leave it some where?

Surprised they won't pay for going to get the empty trailer? You didn't have any options, you got penalized for their bad planning. (again:biggrin_25523:)

The trailer I drop at an approved location in Casper, that I found for them, that costs Stevens and me nothing to store the trailer. The tractor with all my stuff goes home with me. No ordinances against a semi tractor in my neighborhood.

This was not their bad planning. I could have taken all my stuff off the truck on Friday, and let the shop take the tractor over to Thermo king, to set all weekend, and then let TK fix the APU Monday, and Gotten my truck back on Monday night or Tuesday Morning when somebody had time to go and pick it up. And since it was an APU issue, no breakdown pay, and no free hotel room.

So it was my choice to take the Tractor to TK on monday, and then get dispatched. And Normally Cott would have an empty, but they had not unloaded the flavoring load yet. So I either drove back to the yard to try and find an empty amongst all the out of service trailers, or go to Kraft and get one. And since Kraft and Cott are both in Fort Worth, just opposite sides of town, the 40 miles. So i got rolling a day earlier this way.

    Dryver Thanks this.

I assume they allow you to take at least the tractor home. Living in Lexington Ky - I dont think there is a drop yard/lot that I know of. Their paperwork shows they have offices in Lexington but I cant seem to locate it. I wouldnt want to have to drive 100 miles or longer each way to get my truck after home time.

    thanks for the info!

Only as a lease driver may you take the tractor home.

As for company drivers, must park at ThermoKing or a Dealership. Stevens has one office, and that is Dallas. They have contracted space in a few areas across the country to drop trailers.

    TLeaHeart-
Hey there, I have been following your post for a few months now and have to say it has kept my spirits up about the way I have been treated so far here at Stevens, its nice to know that I have a somewhat descent DM. I only hear from him when I call for my mandatory verbal trip-plan because i've only been solo for a month and a half. I'm on the pre-alliance fleet, but this was only to get more miles, or so I heard, I will be staying a company driver. My dad used to haul cars and he told me if I do my year here he can get me on with his old company. He told me to expect to double my net pay as his old carrier pays 25% of the freight, no cpm to worry about. I've been with Stevens since January, but hire date in Feb. since i went to their school. I have read this entire post and wish I would have found it earlier.
To all those who are wondering about the first few months with Stevens, I had a pretty good experience, don't mind the recruiters, just remember, they probably make less that then job they are recruiting for.
I'm more than willing to answer any questions about the training and graduate phases that any of you may have, just email me at endge2001@gmail, I don't have internet very often but can send and receive emails on my phone.
Again, thanks again for this whole post, it has helped me tremendously!
