I was wondering the same thing, as long as it doesn't interfere with the pickup and delivery why would they care?

Stevens is a reefer company, can't check the temp and be on a 34 reset.

Dunwitit nails it on the head..although DOT says it does not affect a 34 hour restart.

That is correct, checking the temp on a reefer during your 34 reset is OK per the DOT. But Stevens doesn't need the help of the DOT to add to their huge rule list.

    June 21 to June 27

    Miles ran 2693 short days

    Miles paid 2364

Miles transfloed 0 (zero) will transflo just before I go home

Started the week out by deliverying to HEB San antonio TX. appointment is for 5am, don't get into my door until 630 am. They were still loading their trailers. oh well, I am empty at 830, send in my empty call, and get an immediate load assignment.

Head down to laredo to US cold storage for a load going to portland OR. Good run, 2300 paid miles. My log book is tight, but I have no appointment time for portland, so if it is a late delivery on Friday i can make it. Get down to US cold storage, back into my door, 110 degrees, at 2pm. It is 9pm before I am loaded. Normal for a live load in Laredo... I now have an early morning appointment in Portland for friday, no way I can make it with the log hours. I have been up since 0400, so I went up to the TA and went to sleep.

Send in a running late message, and inform my DM that I will be running the shortest route, and it will be Wednesday when I will be on I40 in New Mexico. She says plan on repowering in Albuquerque. Later on Tuesday she sends me the repower for wed, for noon. I stop in roswell New Mexico for the night, and will be in Albuquerque about 9am.

The truck stop in roswell is closed, but the diner is open. roll out at 5am with my free coffee, and at 0815 I get asked if I am okay to make a delivery at 1600? It is to walmart Los Lunas, so NO i can not legally make that delivery. Her answer, no problem the other truck will just make the delivery, leaving me setting all day with hours still to run. She does not see anything wrong. 2 trucks setting because she will not think ahead and communicate. The other truck was a trainer, picking up a student that morning that was flying in.

My DM told me that the repower was a "soft" plan, which it was not, or I would not have gotten the swap message across the QC. Next she told me that she was not sure the other driver was getting a student that day, and that he would not be able to make portland as a solo. Both are lies, trying to cover her butt...Student had the plane ticket on Monday evening. I am tired of her lack of communication and lack of respect towards solo drivers. She uses solos as shag trucks, and hands the loads off to her Teams. I call archie asking for a new DM. I get a call from my DM wanting to know why I called Archie. I tell her I can not take her lies anymore, and that I am not talking to her anymore. She tells me okay they will move me from her fleet on the 1st.

Now to top this day off, this 4 year veteran did not give himself enough time to deal with the slow check in at Los Lunas, and was marked as late. It was midnight before he returned to swap trailers. Now him and his student who have been up all day, drive off into the night, trying to make the Friday morning appointment. I go to sleep with no load.

Thursday Morning dawns, and I expect to set all day, since I have challenged my DM. At 7:15am the QC beeps with a load assignment. Amarillo, DLD 6/25 1800. Goes to Compton CA. 1362 miles. That will work, even though I will have another slow day. Head off to amarillo, pull into Tyson, expecting to drop my trailer and bob tail out. Nope, the guard turns and grabs the paperwork....Okay now I will be running ahead. Maybe I can stay out of california. I have enough time to get to the Route 66 casino in New Mexico.

Stop to get fuel and food, and Archie calls. tells me it was going to be a 3 way call, but my DM did not come to work today, so it will be me and him. I tell him why I want a new DM, he accepts, and I now have a new DM. Archie moves me on thursday. I attempt to call my new DM, but do not get through to him, and I call it a night, and have a good seafood buffet.

Friday morning, new DM sends a message saying he will call when things slow down. I send in a repower request, since I am running ahead. Talk with my new DM in the afternoon, and he says I am in a good location to catch a repower, he will see what he can do. I stop for the night at flagstaff, Little America. My hike is shorter than normal, as the hiking trail is closed due to forest fires in the area. 1/2 mile from the Truck stop.

Get up Saturday, send in another repower request, wait a few hours, nothing, so head down to barstow so I only have a short drive on sunday to Compton.

Now ralphs in Compton is a cluster from the beginning, from check in, to trying to back into the dock, to checking out. appointment 0530, get out at 1030. Sunday, really don't expect a load for awhile, so head for Ontario. Get a load, pick up a dropped trailer in Colton, delivers to WalMart Cheyenne WY Sunday 16:00.... Yea that is gonna happen 1075 miles in 6 hours. I send in a running late message and request a teleporter. No answer.

    Week 25

    June 28 to July 4

    miles ran 1014 home time

Miles paid 3438 good paycheck while at home

    Miles transfloed 0 zero

Get up monday, get the message that the load has been rescheduled for Tuesday, at 1515. Works good for me. I was planning on asking for home time starting the 10 of july, but this will work, so I call my new DM, tell him my thoughts, and his response, "enjoy your home time, see you when you come back." Stop at little america WY for the night.

Tuesday, get up, roll to Cheyenne, make my delivery, transflo all my trips, and head home, 180 miles at my expense. Will return to work July 7, needed the time off.

Stevens communication problems seem to be growing and getting worse.
The attitude back in Dallas about slam a truck under it, #### the hours, leave drivers setting under load for days, telling the driver to drive to the receiver and see if they are open on a holiday weekend, instead of scheduling the loads by looking at a calendar....
