    Corporal,

There are two or more drivers who park their trucks at a local towing place. The place is locked up. I thought Stevens requirement was that the place must be secure.

They do have a few drop yards around the country where you can leave a truck, but not many. Lease drivers and Owner Ops can park wherever they like.

    The Challenger Thanks this.

A tow yard is considered a secure place. You park where Stevens tells you to park. And if those are lease operators, they can park where they want to.

    Hey TLH,
You may have already covered these questions somewhere in the past 54, but if not... As a lease driver, do you get priority over company drivers as far as picking loads, destinations, length, or contents? And, when paying for fuel, is there a set dollar amount per gallon that you can count on paying regardless of the pump price?
Anybody else feel free to add an IMO. Thanks to all.

Even if I have, as a lease driver, you will be dispatched before a company driver, if you both emptied out at the same time. Stevens is forced dispatch, so as a driver I do not get to pick my loads. I take what they send me, I am not picky. At times I do request certain loads, manily to get me home.

Stevens pays a fuel surcharge, on Loaded miles only, based on the weekly average price. The fuel surcharge brings the average price down to $1.20 per gallon if you get 6 miles per gallon. So no there is NOT a set price.

Cats on the 2009 and older trucks, cummins on all 2010 and newer trucks. No choice, you get what they assign you.

And this company STEVENS is based in Dallas TX.

"I enjoy the look on the lumper services face, when it is a load that has no charge."

TLeaheart, you posted this some pages ago....?..no charge to who?

Read all 55 pages of this thread(amongst others) sounds like stevens is a pretty GOOD example of a trucking company to work for....and an honest assessment of the miles and BS that one has to deal with working for them. I am looking more into the flatbed side of trucking(it appeals more to me, considering what i do being in the miltary currently)

Thank you for the great reading material....someting that is actually WORTH reading....all 55 pages worth! Keep the posts coming......even if dingy puts his .02 cents in every now and then!

One more thing.....when you sit and wait to be unloaded/loaded......what do you normally do other than sleep.....read books/photography/maybe throw a football with other drivers that are there?.....thanks
