Hey people, check your routing carefully. It seems the Optistop and Navigo is getting worse and worse. Examples from yesterday:
Driver is north of Cactus TX heading to Denver. Asks for an optistop as they won't make the Lamar stop. I ran it three times: Enid OK!
Second driver. Heading from FW to Pueblo. Normal run....straight up 287 to Lamar, turn left on US 50.
Nope! Wants him to go to OKC for fuel, then Dodge City, then to Pueblo!
Third case: Driver emptied in Springfield MO, is in Springfield MO, loads in Springfield MO, then delivers to Joliet IL. But fuel stop is Fort Smith AR!!
Now these drivers called and asked. Had several that were HUNDREDS of miles out of route. When I asked them why they took that route and didn't question it, their response?? "Jill told me..."
Folks...I gotta say this the only way I can: Our navigation software SUCKS!! Check every route. Ask!
Now I know some of you will say, "well it's the company's fault, I shouldn't get in trouble."
You're right.
Except when you're out of route and the load needs to be repowered, YOU'RE the one that loses the load and often gets a lousy one in return.
The rule of repower at any company is to move the freight for OTD. They don't care if you lose 800 miles and get 120 with three days on it.
So do your self a favor and check your routes and ask questions!
One more thing...if you're overweight and the person on the other end of the phone says something like, "just go ahead and run it. We'll getyou repowered." Make sure they put it on the QC. Especially the part about Stevens covering your tickets.
We have too many newbies inside that never saw a truck before coming to work there and have no ideas of the rules and regulations, much less the penalties to YOU if you don't follow them. Cover your bases.Crazy_Aardvark, msa, flue and 1 other person Thank this. -
Cactus TX, and can't make the 150 miles to Lamar co? some driver does not know how to run their fuel....
Next stop, boise city OK loves.... got to know your route.
Even years ago, the opti-stop routing sucked. -
Dude! Finally stopped long enough to get caught up and not just fall into the bunk and zonk lol. When I last checked in, was in VA, and I got to drive over the Chesapeake Bridge!!! That Purdue in Accomac makes Hunts Point look like a prom queen. My delivery was yesterday am in IL, and we had a preplan before we even hit PA out of Maryland. Picked that one up and this AM got repowered off it for a load that delivers tomorrow in NM.
Himself is beside himself with happy.
DD is 7k miles and 21 days....we have just under 5k and its been a week! Varoom! We decided the truck suits us and have named her Hooch. She is lazy and doesnt like to work, cops attitude when she thinks she isnt being appreciated and I love every inch of her.
Curb, way to go! Enjoy the ride, those school trucks are somethin else. Kmac, I wish I was there to give you grey hairs. I still suck at backing, and the redshirts still cringe when they see me comin. Emul, excellent reminder, thanks for takin care of we huddled masses! Nascarchuck...when I read your post about the blonde, I misread the word tats. Only by one letter lol.
You guys have a good week, and keep rollin! -
Whys with throwing a fit over 10+ hour break. I have a trip plan that gets me to final with on time delivery. I'm at the end of my 70 and getting hours back each day but not enough to cover a full 11. I have driven 7 with another 3 available. tomorrow I only have 8. if for instance I am only gaining 3 hours and leave at 9 I'm done by twelve and it's more than 10 til I gain the next days hours.
Just let me drive. -
Those who think they know better than the masses think you will be tired after working 70 hours in 8 days, so you have to set around, be bored, get fatigued, then drive when the Hours of Service laws say you can. -
I'm not talking about the law. I think HOS could be relaxed but is necessary. I am talking about a DM. calling me after 13 hours on break which was in the original trip plan and telling me I can only take 10 hour breaks. if I don't have the hours to drive anyway what the hell does it matter whether it was 10,13 or 15. I am still going to drive the eight that I had available and still make on-time delivery.
Corporal_Clegg Thanks this. -
Agree, I have had same issue a couple times. I would bounce up against my 70 and have to shutdown early in the day then got flack when I did not start up till after midnight even when I had no hours to run. I really don't think they look at the clocks, just that you had 10 hours off and are sitting still. Gets old especially when I am on-time or early and running close to 3000 miles a week. I understand the lazy people might need some prodding but if you are my DM you should at least know my trends and not bother me if I say I am on-time leave me be, so what if I take 10 hours or 15 hours maybe I need it for my HOS or my sanity.

A DM has 50 to 80 trucks to check on. The computer flags that you have been sitting still for more than 10 hours, without checking any other statistics.... lousy programing....
The trip plans you send in, are rarely checked, until the disaster happens...
Now a good DM checks your HOS before asking about why you a sitting still. Most do not, as they don't make the time.
My answer whenever I would get such calls from a DM or a CSR, or the Meat dept, "you want to come out and drive this truck?, or waste your time on a repower? when I can make on time delivery?.... I am the captain of this ship, and I will drive when I am legal to do so."
I always got told I had an attitude when I said that, but it ended the stupid calls.
And just think, those souls setting behind those desks, dealing with all the stupidity from the road, shippers, receivers, drivers, get paid less than you as a driver does.
