I do like to tell people Stevens got me to the four corners of the US... Close enough anyway, I delivered in Bangor, Miami, San Diego and Seattle.
SHOJim Thanks this. -
The RTS drop yard south of San Diego, CA, stones throw from the Mexican border. Actually liked that hazmat run from the Pittsburgh PA area.
Never made it to Miami, Just Fort Meyers Fl.
Seattle, WA check
Bangor Maine many times, and Caribou Maine once.
Only one State I never picked up in or delivered in out of the 48, North Dakota.SHOJim Thanks this. -
Made it to Miami, final stop on on two stop load. Took forever to finish at the final. Finished my 10 hour on site. took off for the next assignment at 2am. Tricky at the Miami truck stop where I refueled, limited parking lot that had to be paid for. Florida has had most challenging runs and I struggled to find a safe haven. I like my runs, Northeast, southeast, mid west or texas, Laredo to \ mid west, hoping for Wyoming now after this drop in Illinois tomorrow.

30 cents? for new CDL holders I hope? What about begin pay for any experienced who may come over? Or do they consider all unexperienced, regardless of past experience until they become "Stevens programmed"?
How often will you be pre-planned before final? (48 OTR fleet)? -
Yes, thats for new cdl holders. pre plans vary.but not often unless your on a dedicated lane.
-
Ouch. Not sure if I could function without at least mostly having pre-plans like currently have. I guess the next logical question then would be what percentage of empties are followed by more then an hour to next load assignment? (assuming you have available hours)
I guess that's the difference between running with a small company who knows their drivers Vs running with a large company where all are assumed to be "undependable"?Last edited: Oct 12, 2015

I was there a short while this year (fired for accidents) but I can say one thing on the pre-plans. I was given very few in my time there. I was given my load assignments and times. I would use my Qualcomm for directions but refer to my atlas for low bridges along the way. Wasn't given many "suggested"trip plans either with fuel stops. But I had more fun figuring it out myself. If that is what this conversation is about. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
