Your right again! There or the Tap Room are usually really good also. Crabs are some good eating for sure. A friend of the family lives down near Crisfield Md his front yard is the Salt Water Marsh and back yard is the Chesapeake Bay. Fishing and crabbing galore down there. Rock Fish city. Also some good ole redneck fun lol!

Also I've been trying to find information on here about The Denver school. Having a hard time doing that. Won't let me search anything.
-
I can't help you with the Denver school... I am not even sure of the name.
Truckie83 Thanks this. -
Not much in the way of amenities...but you WILL know how to back up a truck before you leave there. The backing pad is a dirt lot on the owners farm. The schoolhouse is an old soda fountain on the main street through town. And the "student housing" is an old house RIGHT next to the train tracks. The windows offer little to no sound protection so the train will wake you up at all hours of the night. The rooms are full of bunk beds and there will be as many as 8 guys in one room. There are 2 bathrooms.
The biggest problem with that school (and any other CDL school for that matter) is the students who think its a big joke and constantly disrupt class. It always amazed me there were guys who paid $3000 for this but still chose to goof off the whole time.
Would I go there again? Absolutely. The training (which is why I was there) was top notch. I went there in 2009 so things may have changed but this was my experience.Truckie83 Thanks this. -
Knew B. Wannabee thanks for the info I appreciate it. Sounds good. What happens after school?

OK, two stories from the weekend. First the call:
"Stevens Transport, can I help you?"
"Someone called me from this number. Who was it?"
"What's your name?"
"I can't tell you that."
"If you can't tell me, how would I know who tried to call you?"
"You might steal my identity."
"You're probably right. Why don't you call tomorrow and that person will be back."
"What person?"
"The one that wants to steal your identity."
"What time?"
"I can't tell you that."
"Oh. OK. "
The second story is I found out we have a famous person working for us....Douglas Corrigan.
For those of you that don't recognize the name: http://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/wrong-way-corrigan-crosses-the-atlantic
Only this time, instead of flying the wrong way, he was driving from Tarheel NC to Nashville via Atlanta, then Chattanooga and ended up in Knoxville...refusing to respond to QC's or phone calls. Finally, when he stopped (out of hours) he called in. "Jill told me to go that way"
One more reason I believe we should give new drivers jake brakes, but not GPS.
Oh, yea... the repower never happened. Another late Smithfield load.Corporal_Clegg and papadonk Thank this. -
Well, i was supposed to be dispatched to the yard to start OR2 this morning, but instead got dispatched on a load from cedar falls to carson cali with a repower promised to move us to dallas. When i called asking wtf, weekend dispatch guy i talked to laughed and said it sounded like i got screwed and tattooed.
I respectfully requested a heart "right here" so they would know what part to kiss.
Needless to say this load has been a pita since the beginning and is currently 12 hr late, and will be delivered more than 24 hr late. Despite repeated requests, no repower. No notice of when, if at all, i will make it back to the yard to continue training.
Barstow is lovely tho
