lol..I'm laughing at emulsified about you saying running your ragged booty back and forth. One of the reasons I'm going with stevens is because of the good training I have heard they have and they are safety conscious of their drivers. Razorwyr, I live in Petal, MS(south central MS). I live about a hour and 40 minutes south of I-20. Going to truck driving school at Jones county junior college. I have to really get all of my stuff together pretty quickly before I head out. I might have to turn my time back a week and go when you go. Are you taking the bus or going to rent a vehicle razorwyr? I looked up some rental cars around here and found some good deals. Stevens will reimburse you up to 200 dollars. I hope this helps.

Great day yesterday. Went to NYC (Astoria) for the first time. We did miss a turn but recovered nicely. In case yall did not know Stevens is moving that company to Richmond, VA.
Speaking of Richmond, we bring the load from Astoria down here and are told at 10pm that we will be unloaded in the morning. At 7am this morning we are told that we have to go to another facility since they are not set up or have room to deal with us.. FUBAR
After we get done here, headed to NC to pick up and run to Wisconsin.
Have a great day everybody! -
Stevens is lying about moving the company from Astoria to Richmond, at least for now. The plant manager there in Astoria told me that that plant will be running until January, if not longer. And the warehouse in richmond, is having employee problems after spending 3 days there delivering different loads and picking up loads. Total FUBAR.

well.. been a bit since I could post.. I got out of the yard , and rolled a meat load to the fine republic of California. ran past a O1 trainer on I-17,in the first break check stop, with the student getting his first mountain.
Ran my jake all the way down... best part was, the CB.
Trucker: Stevens your okay?
Me: Yep, just fine
Trucker: Cause were doing 20 miles an hour behind you.
Me: thank you for verifying my speedometer is working, i wasn't sure.
silence.... yep.. i love to pick back at them
my second load , i ran late getting down grapevine.. no i sit.. new appointment time.. for tomarrow... well.. i get to sleep in.. since the meat load soaked up alot of hours.
still running though. shiny side up! -
I-17 can NOT be used for training a student without a jake. Stevens and Arizona'a policies. I don't train, so maybe that has changed again too!
Anybody on the east coast? Was wondering if the dock workers shut down of the east coast docks is affecting our freight out of the East. It is all about Del Monte moving from a union dock to a non union dock, and the union has shut down all the ports on the east coast with their work stoppage. And the Teamsters won't cross, so many of the port trucks are also not working.
I am in Ottawa IL....anyone with anytime at stevens should know about this great shuttle run, then wait.... my bad karma continues.... -
You need to be very careful about disclosing information about clients. As drivers we are sometimes privy to internal trade secrets of a company. That goes for Stevens as well. The driver manager can tell us, "we have a bunch of loads that will be regular between NYC and Richmond." but we should never speculate publicly what we've heard.
For example, there was a test market of a new product for a popular fast food restaurant (the little dog company) that was running in one area of the company. To my knowledge the product never moved past that test market. I would have loved to try it though. The reason I know about this was that this secret new product was marked on the box what it was. The bills simply mentioned that it was a misc potato product.
In either case, if you disclose something that is both incorrect and/or a trade secret, it may effect the decisions of investors and although the shipper/receiver should have been more tight lipped about things, part of the responsibility for the error could fall on you. -
Well, the slow freight here in CA lasted about 12 hours for me.
Head down to Salinas tomorrow morning for a load of berries, then back to Cedar Falls, IA.
Nice Run.
Got up this morning here in Turlock to deliver my load and found my fuel needle laying over dead. Some SOB siphoned my tank last night. Fortunately they only got about 30 gallons since I never fill at night before shutting down.
This is getting to be too many times. This makes twice now in 38 years... -
"Some SOB siphoned my tank last night"
I hate theives and liars. -
Dang! Siphoned you tank??? Can you get locking fuel caps?
Also: Do any of you guys use a trucker specific gps unit at all?Last edited: Sep 30, 2010
