Hey Sinister. Hope you enjoyed Pizza day. I went into the 01 classroom to get some grub. I am wearing a San Francisco Giants hat. I may get dispatched tomorrow but most likely on Saturday. Orientation 2 is a pain in the ### by the way. Noticed you had that horses ### baby sitting you guys most of the day. Good luck with your trainer. Do your best to stick it out and make it work for you. Lots of guys switch trainers and it only delays the whole process. 01 was tough but it was lots of fun and there were a lot more good days than bad ones. I am really looking forward to getting on the road again.

    Alamorich,
What wast he PIA for O-2? the trip planning exercise?
Make sure you concentrate on that. It is the single most important part of O-2. More drivers fail from poor trip planning in O-2 and Grad Fleet than any other one issue. That's because they don't do it right, become frustrated and either try and wing it or flat out don't do it.
Refusal gets you sitting on the sidelines.
So concentrate and practice the trip planning. You will use it the rest of your driving career.
    Besides....SgtMajor has such a good mustache :biggrin_25525:

Well I recieved a call from Stevens wanting to know if I decided whether I wanted to go with them and if I would call them tomorrow for an interview over the phone for a prehire. I told the girl I already had the prehire and would be starting school Monday and then she said to call about arranging an O1 date. That kind of surprizes me, they seem eager to get people to sign on. I must say that makes me feel better about whether or not a job will be waiting for me after school.
I got my new smart phone and have rooted it and loaded a wireless tether to it. Now I'll have internet access for my laptop from where ever I can get a phone signal at. Now I have to figure out how to load my CDs on to the phone.

Thanks for the advice. My 01 trainer emphasised trip planning and he had me doing it the last two weeks. We did the super trip yesterday and I understood everything.

Little glitch. My temorary license expired so I am hung up. Counselor got me a ticket home to go get the permanent license. It is at my mother's house. I could have had family mail the thing to my counselor weeks ago. No biggie, will be on the bus today, see loved ones tonight and be back here for roll call Monday morning.

Be sure guys with short time get on the early vans first. Be the one to point that out when no one else does. Most guys will stay a while when they don't need to be there right off on second or third weeks and know what you mean. On the other hand, if you know you need to be there early, get an early van! lol And speak up. Just don't be rude, you know?
Guys who can afford it, get together for a weekly rental car. Four guys paying for one gets pretty cheap. And you can get around, especially for food and such, and weekends! Well, Sundays. Plus you find you have more time when you don't waste it waiting on the shuttles.

As long as you pass training, you have a job. I have yet to hear of anyone going through schooling and trainers but not being hired. Really, you get hired your last day of schooling three weeks. Or not. Once you go OTR with a trainer, unless you screw up or are one, you stay and go solo. Training pay until you go solo, but hired all the same. And you won't earn much! Most likely, anyway. But you will be one of the best trained out here. And working with some of the best equipment. And really given a shot at being among the best drivers at any company. Or on your own. But Stevens lease is a #####. You got to work your ### off to make it really pay. Not just hard, but smart, too.

Okay, so heya all you noobie students! And heyas to the longer timers.
On reset in Morris. Checked the WebNTransit, and saw from my first pay period, that I stayed here on my third day out with my first trainer! LOL Hardly remembered it was that long ago!
I took my first advance, and my trainer paid for my meatloaf with red gravy, mashed pots and corn with texas toast and a real root beer. He said it was one of the best places out here. It was sure the best meal since the Golden something buffet our last day of classes with some of the other students. On Stevens gift cards, our Christmas gifts.
So, here I sit, now pretty much operating out of the warehouse about two miles up IL 47 from where I got my first meal bought by my first trainer and where I got my first pay advance. Ten months ago. Seems so much longer ago, and yet just a short time ago.
    sigh
    *cue reminiscing music*
Okay, anyway, down for the next day and a half. Would have gotten home for reset but that last run out to Streetsboro OH ate up my hours. I spent about four hours stopped at various accidents and construction just on the way out. Then on the way back, I was about twenty vehicles back from a nasty little accident on 74 between three 4-wheelers, and then again about a mile behind a truck and a 4-wheeler fighting to get over from the on-ramp. The car got stuck in front of the truck that went all the way left to the barrier then stopped with the car between them, blocking all three lanes up. Two lanes and the shoulder that is. We sat there for four hours. Ugh. So, get to Morris with just enough time to unload and roll into the TA with fifteen minutes left on my 70.
Now to wait until midnight Sunday night and roll into Groveport OH to start the week. And they take anytime, as long as it's not more than a day early or late, for the most part. Then I have pre-plans that are completely impossible. I mean, come on. lol We're in the TRANSportation business, not TELEportation. Geeze. I might even have to stop to pee or something. I mean, that rubber band holds great, but a good looking seatcover might break it.
Okay, anyway, next week should be interesting. Since I won't be moving until Nov 1, I did last months numbers.
11,332 miles. One bad trailer tire, six light bulbs. One bulb and one headlight on truck. Only eleven weights, we tend to run light loads. 38 trips and bunch of shags. Net pay was just under $3,000. Best month to date.
I've got my first shower done, ate some great deep fried fish and baked potato and salad bar, so now relaxation.
Again, welcome noobies and heyas all around!
Keep the shiny side shiny and wheels rollin'! Or at least on the bottom!

I don't want to burst your bubble but they are eager to sign you because the recruiters work on commission. They don't care about you, me or the other guy. Good luck, I do hear good things about the Stevens training, just not the recruiters.
