tlea i never said i should never bump a dock,i dont know where you got that from that statement.ive bumped two docks in the last day.i run my ### off and dont complain.im not the one that scheduled me on this load.ill take it and run as hard as i can.thats what i get paid to do.ive been on the other end ,doing many favors, for many people at my expense.so before you make general statements about somebody do your homework.

or maybe because i do run my rear end off and help people when they need it,i get good things done for me every now and then.i dont know why they gave me this load, but im not gonna apologize for it.ill put in the repower request plenty early for the next driver to get miles and make the extra drop money.its costing me over 150 dollars not finishing the load, and its a darn good load.maybe the planner didnt look at my hrs i dont know, ive had plenty of suck ### loads just like everybody else.10 drop nursery loads you name it you take the good w/the bad.thats truck driving

In Prescott, AR tonight. Head into Terrell tomorrow. Only about 4 hours away, but I don't deliver until sunday sometime.
Figure they'll send me to the yard when I finish since I'm coming up on my 90 and they're suppose to send me to Idaho for Thanksgiving.
Hate to see you go, WG, but I understand. It's a shame. Keep in touch and let us know how you're doing. As someone else said on this board...Once a buzzard...

I might be having a serious problem with my 2000. We'll see when we get it to the yard. I've been told by numerous drivers (via radio) that there is a bunch of smoke coming from under my truck/trailer as I head down the road. I'm getting exhaust into the cab now if I'm sitting still, and I'm getting a serious 'shudder' at 1100rpm/50mph when under load.
    Not good.

Sorry to see you leave the coop. You'll do well anywhere you go I think. Just not working out with the buzzard.
Keep us updated and stay in touch. I always said the lease program at Stevens is a #####. Some can pull it off for years, others can't for a month. Tough way to lease. Get a better deal and earn a bit more somewhere else. And don't pay a penny you shouldn't have to.
I noted the peeling paint and dents and dings when I picked up this truck. And the torn curtains. But I wanted off the yard asap and didn't wait around to get to the detail shop. Waiting on the garage was bad enough.

I am sorry Kirk, my humble apology, the comment about the drivers not bumping docks was not directed at you, but I see after rereading, why you reacted the way you have.

It is part of the culture that is taught at Stevens Transport. Within the first week of training, the students hear, run the miles off the load, and then ask for a repower to stay productive. Then due to the nature of the training, and Trainer/student teams being able to run farther than a solo, they do many repowers while training, and with some trainers, bump only a few docks.

Stevens is a reactive managed company. Little fore thought is put into dispatch, as your dispatch shows, and my battle in amarillo. And My DM would cancel the non productive load to LA, pre plan me onto a productive load to the east, and meat would put me back onto the LA load. Maybe a pissing match was going on back in dallas I do not know about.

Now Kirk, it is not costing you a thing, because you can not legally complete the load.
Who gets the better end of the deal is the problem...no one should get the better end of the swap. He gets the $75 for New York, and the drop pay, and gets to burn up his available hours dealing with multiple drops in the city, and unpaid miles getting around, and he does not get the 1800 miles of pay getting there. You do, and then on to your next load, without dealing with the City. All depends on when and where he gets the load.

My DM understands how I like to run, and keeps me moving. He thinks ahead.

A little planning, doing the job correctly the first time, makes a company very profitable.

And NO, one does not have to take the good with the bad.... another thought process that is wrong. A 10 drop nursery load is a money maker, if the driver is proactive, and reschedules the appointments and gets them off as quickly as legally possible.

Emulsified, My 6th injector clogged, the one that puts fuel to the DPF, and I was smoking like a forest fire a couple of weeks ago rolling across MO. Cummins recommends that injector be replaced every 125,000 miles. Stevens does not follow that recommendation. Sounds like your DPF is clogged and is NOT regenerating.

Lots to catch up on since I could read this last. Good thing, as I have the time. I'm down for a reset in Morris. Bleh. Wanted to hit home this week for several personal reasons. Dang it. Friday was a nightmare day. Holy crap. I could post a few hundred words describing the events of yesterday, but I can instead do this . . .
    - good load home for weekend of 50 hours off replaced with 3 loads
    - first load is under a hundred miles but pays all 400 it will take to go from Detroit to Chicago via drop and hook in Michigan City IN and load up in Columbia City IN
    - second load is under 100 miles total, drop yard to train depot in Chicago
    - third load is Chicago to Indy on Monday for hometime
    - first problem is on first load = drop and hook in Michigan City delayed as empty trailer I was to take to Columbia City isn't . . . . you know, empty. 4 hours later it is and I head out. Columbia City takes another 4 hours to load me. I'm now out of hours instead of in Chicago with time to do the second load.
    - Load is delivered and head to drop yard for second load. Trailer isn't there, lose that load.
    - Head to Chicago bakery to get load headed for hometime and Monday delivery, load isn't ready. Won't be ready until Monday.
Monday I noticed low air pressure when I got up. Checked things out didn't see anything. Afternoon I deliver and find crack in emergency air line at cab fitting. Replaced in two hours.
Wednesday, I do a major pti and find rust and corrosion on air line spring so I replaced that.
Got caught a mile behind a four car accident on 80-90 eb exit 132. Four hours sitting when I really couldn't be. Ended up making load on time, but it sucked doing it.
Also on Friday, I took exit 23 around an accident on i69 sb and saw some pretty scenery I never knew was so close by. Also found a nice little truck stop on that road that can turn out to be really handy on a couple of our regular runs through the area.
I also got a qc that day that my pay was on hold until my manager got a copy of my papers from a delivery. That got done Friday, only good news yesterday.
Otherwise, all's fine. Getting decent miles and my FM is a decent guy. Going to make a point each day of having to reset away from home. Big point about this fleet is running hard all week but getting rest on weekends. One place we end up sleeping each week is impossible to sleep at. Too much noise from trains and planes for me anyway, even inside with fans running and windows up.
I'm finally ahead financially. If I stay on this road for a few years I can get my own truck and lease on my own authority under Stevens or somewhere else.
Well, four hours down, 36 until they start loading again in Chicago.
    sigh

i appreciate your quote, and i didnt mention that i ran all ten drops in one day lol i just used that load as an example, and yes i will send in the repower request early enough for the next driver to make good money on the remainder of the load.i feel the same way you do,unlike some drivers ,i am concerned w/my fellow drivers, and i dont like to see my compadres get a raw deal.i just dont have the hrs to complete this load.
