Not really. If the weather were better, I could run constantly on these rail loads, except ones that come in late from time to time. So far one out of almost a dozen was late. I've arrived just as the trailers were being parked a couple of times. They make good runs.
Today's is 509 miles from Columbus (empty) to Louisville to drop and hook, to Chicago. About nine hours driving time at best, more like ten to eleven when traffic gets this heavy.
One day's run.
Next day's run is Chicago to Lexington KY. 375 miles or about eight hours in traffic, maybe nine if you laze along a bit.
Next will probably be empty to Louisville then back to Chicago, about 500 miles or a little less. Or maybe to Columbus, or maybe a rare Indianapolis. I don't get the short runs anymore, whatever that means, or doesn't mean.
What rail IS doing, is wearing out the truck! Pulling 40K+ all the time really causes the truck stress.

LMAO,guess we are all in the same boat.

a side note on that load out of Oxnard.
It was all celery. Packed in disposable and collapsible plastic tubs.
When I decided to wear 18 flat spots in my tires rather than climb over the head on that happened in front of me, three of the pallets collapsed.
Celery all over the trailer!
Discovered it the next morning when I went to pulp the load.
THEN they repowered it from me.
that poor next driver...and student! -
Got the reciever in Mesquite to accept the load Thursday, so long as I am there before noon. I will be there at 830, and can watch the safety lane as i get unloaded. Informed my DM about the new unload time, 4 days early, and asked for a load home, but with my limited hours, it will need to deliver after christmas. He was working on it, last I heard...
Will call him in the morning, or just walk across the street and talk to him.
Hopefully another trip into dallas, and out. -
We can refuse a repower if we are an alliance driver.I will usually ask questions, and determine how impoetant a load it is.Usually if I help someone out,it comes back to me.I do refuse loads if its not to my benefit. But i do help out when needed.I saved a Tropicana load the other night that i gained nothing on it.Fact had to run all night when I wouldnt have had to,to finish the load I was on.But it was an important load,so I helped out.I gained nothing on it,but loss of sleep.Hopefully it comes back to me.

Thank you for the input.I guess if I want to attempt keep my utilities on I should probably stick with Prime. She told me about the $350 a week, but didn't think the deductions would take it down to $100 +/-.
Thanks again! -
Good to hear from a trainer that knows. The current load I am under is a Hazmat load... Now meat calls me yesterday, and wants me to help the out again... the driver is out of hours at his first drop in Dayton OH, and will I go to Dayton, pick up his load, deliver to Columbus at 2330, and then go back and pick my load up and finish it?
Two problems, I am 350 miles from Dayton the way the crow flys, 400 miles with hazmat, I don't have the available drive time to do it, unless everything worked exactly on time, and the other driver does not have a hazmat license... and they want me to drop the hazmat load on the street!!!
I would have helped out, but this was just too much... I informed meat, this is a placarded hazmat load, are they sure they want to take a chance?
They never sent me the information for the repower, so I continued my trip. This is the type of repower requests I have been getting lately...almost impossible ones. -
