Thanks TLEAHEART, Your posts and replies on this forum are some of the most informative on this site in my opinion and that explanation is very helpful and I now understand how it actually works. It makes sense. Here is what the paperwork from Aliance actually says ...
Its a bit misleading and I didnt think it was quite that simple. Anyway, overall Im impressed by the program and intend to sign up as soon as my 60 days solo/pre-alliance are done.
Im very much enjoying my few days off. Ordered Dominos and kickin back whatchin some TV

I suggest visiting a base near your home before you head to Dallas and stock up!
Got an overweight load going into Chicago for Friday, then resetting in Chi-town! Will call old friends up there and see where I'll spend the night. I'll have time to put the truck in a place for safe keeping then hit the city for the weekend!
WOOOO! Haven't spent a New Years in Chi since 1990-91.
Definitely a slow week. Won't have 2,200 miles total. Ah well.Last edited: Dec 30, 2010

Sitting in Bakersfield tonight. the load I repowered yesterday in AZ, headed for Stockton.
Was suppose to be repowered off me when I got here at noon today. Was due at 12:30. but no trucks available for the last 210 miles. I was out of hours. Started from Phoenix at 0230 this morning.
So they tell me just to head up there and deliver tomorrow.
I don't have an appointment and now realize Kraft is probably closed tomorrow for the holiday.
But what the heck. I'll be up there at 0600 and see what gives. -
Hey Smokr, keep us updated man. This pretty interesting.

Hello all. Hope you're all safe and ready to start the new year! Quick question for all the Stevens drivers out there. I'm scheduled to start school in Dallas next Monday, 1/9, in Dallas. I've been working with the recruiter over the past
month and she pulled my background, mvr, etc and all came back fine. No surprise as I have no tickets or criminal record. I filled out the application completely and honestly so no worries there. Thing is, I read this entire thread (awesome...thanks!), and am a bit concerned about the physical from the company doc. From what I've read the dr will send you home for not disclosing previous surgeries. I didn't disclose a surgery I had for appendix and diverticulitis 17 yrs ago because it didn't ask for that information on the application. Am I missing something here? Are there more detailed medical history forms to fill out once I arrive in Dallas? I don't want to take the 2 day bus trip only to be sent home when I get there. Any help with this is greatly appreciated. -
dispatcher203 Thanks this.

Thanks Cpl Clegg. Much appreciated. As I said, the surgery was 17yrs ago and have had no complications whatsoever since. I just want to be prepared with my medical records if neccessary. I just called and was transferred to the clinic...got vm. Recruiter's direct line goes right to vm as well. No biggie. It's New Years Eve day after all!!! I was instructed to call on Monday for bus ticket and travel itinerary on Monday anyhow so I'll deal with it then I suppose. Thinking of ya'all out there. Be safe!

dispatcher, you will fill out a long medical history form, and then see the doctor for the DOT physical... they will look for scars that you have not disclosed on the form. During your first three days at stevens, they run extensive background checks verifying all information you have provided. Recruiting only runs the basic reports. If you are not trying to hide anything, you have nothing to worry about.
I can not believe the people who come to orientation thinking they will pass the drug test, when they have been using in the last week. Not very smart.
I made my delivery to pepsi in Butte MT this morning, only -10 outside. I got a load assignment quickly, but alas it does not pick up until Monday Afternoon 200 miles south in Idaho. I could not get there today anyway, I15 between Idaho and Montana has been closed since early yesterday, and is not expected to open today either.
So here I am in the Motel 6, Butte MT to celebrate the New Year. Now I know why I like to take christmas and new years off... there is NO freight to keep one moving.dispatcher203 Thanks this. -
Thanks TLea. I read your past post about the scars and that's what worried me about this. Couldn't remember being asked anywhere on the applications, both online and written that asked for that info. Now it makes sense. Of course I'll disclose any info they require from me. All I want is to get good training and a steady pay as a professional driver. I worked for a fresh/frozen LTL company here in CT as a dispatcher, in the warehouse, and even got my permit last year and did some driving. Got hooked and found Stevens as the answer to my search for a good company to start with. Gotta thank all of you for such detailed info on what to expect. Takes alot of stress off knowing what lies ahead over the next year. Can't wait to get started!
