Well after about the third time listening to the different recruiters that have visited my class, yesterday I made my final choice.

The recruiters are good at what they do.
The key for me was to take the time to research, read, and meet drivers well before I ever stepped into class.

I did not shy away from asking questions and I have to say that most of the recruiters were quite candid about what there job exactly was.

With the company recruiter visits plus the informative threads here on TTF, I have decided to go with Stevens for my externship.

I want to thank everyone for their input and sharing what you have been through with Stevens.

I want to thank Smokr for his commitment to share from the beginning his journey with Stevens.
    That was an immense help!

My last week in class and I take my final exam on Friday!!

    Wish Me Luck!!

I am in the same situation. I like their training pay and the fact that they have APU's on all their trucks. I guess there is no way to be sure until we actually make the decision and see for ourselves. Good luck on whatever decision you make.

OK, here it is straight from the horses mouth: Kraft Ontario will not accept early loads if it's refrigerated. If it's a dry load, they 'most likely' will.
I arrived today and tried to get my refrigerated load in early (it's due tomorrow AM) and that was the response from the gate.

turned out to be the same breaker switch, but this time the tech in Albuquerque found the problem.
    Sometimes the simple is overlooked.
This switch is mounted on the side of the electric control box, under the bed. It's a breaker, and when tripped will 'pop' out.
When the switch is pushed in (normal operating position) it's fine.
When it pops, it sticks out just far enough that the gas shock from the bed clips off the 'plunger' when the bed is lowered.
The fix? Move the box over one inch.
Got a great night's sleep in Winslow last night.
    phew!

Now that sucks, has changed then. Last time there, with a 60 degree load, I was able to drop a whole day early. But I had to talk to the clerk inside, first, not the guard outside. A phone call, and the name got me past the guard.'

know exactly what you are talking about on the breaker for the APU...so simple, when it popped, and you opened the bunk to check it, snap... broken switch. Glad the tech found it.

Felt like the last 24 hours, I lived at americold in Ontario OR. Had a repower due at 1400, arrived at 1800, they gave me a door at 0400, and I was empty at 0700. Hard to sleep on the street with all the traffic. went over to the pilot for a shower, and to wait on my load assignment...which soon came, but then was put on hold...as I had to call Ms Porter....A random drug screen... At least the clinic was only 2 miles away. 45 minutes later I am back at americold...load was originally scheduled to be loaded on Thursday at 0200, and deliver in denver Friday, 0530... 870 miles, in 25 hours, not gonna happen... so I became a work in again, and started loading at 1330, and headed out at 1500. Having to start my log book for the UA, means I had to stop at Evanston WY for the night.

Random again, 3 years running, the first full week of January. At least this time I was not in New York City.

    Note about the Ontario Kraft:
They accept Stevens loads ONLY 5 MINUTES BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT.
Seems Stevens charges detention if they are late unloading.
    Poor babies!
They did get me in the gate right away and unloaded me right away, however, there must be a history there someplace!

I was wondering if you decided to stay, or if you left. Are things any better?

Was this Kraft Dry, or Kraft wet? Wet has always been no more than 30 minutes before your appointment...

Dry you drive all the way around the back side of the building, drop on the west side...

Wet, barely has enough room for you to set up and back into a door. Wet is to the East of the TA's, dry is to the West.
