Well, I got to my shipper Monday, was raining like a banshee and 34 degrees. The lot was full of ice with water on it, what a mess. Was slippery as hell. Barely got under the trailer with no traction, had to drop bags and crank trailer up. Finally got hooked, and got out of there. There was a little truckstop across the street, room for ten at most, all full. Checked radar and temps and saw that I had maybe two or three hours before it turned to sleet/snow. By the time I made it to my fuel stop at US35 and I71 I had icicles on my mirrors and wipers were almost uselessly iced. Weather looked to get colder and snowier, so I stayed overnight. Woke up Tuesday and it was a mess, but mostly clear sky later on, and radar showed I had a couple of hours of clear weather before the second round moved into the area, and I could most probably make I70 before the weather moved into that area as well. And oh boy what weather was moving in!
Rolled out and got into Toledo area when things went tits up. Got colder, rain turned to sleet, and roads started going to hell. Moved about 45 along US35 until I got to where it was being blocked by a cop at the city. Had to go about three miles along a residential road not meant for trucks to get back onto US35 and toward I70. By then the sleet was building up on my wipers again. Got onto I70 and was moving at 40-45 and not being passed except by supertruckers ######## about me moving too slow. Other truckers called them idiots. Stopped at the first truckstop I came to on I70. Been here ever since. That was 4pm yesterday. It rained ice all evening and overnight. Early this morning it turned to snow. Right now still have snow falling moderately and winds rocking my truck. Truck stop is packed full. Once in a while a truck pulls out and another one takes that spot in minutes if not immediately. The cb is full of guys ######## about a JBHunt that parked in the entrance and left his truck there. LOL The Pilot ran out of fuel last night, but got a truck early this morning, but is out of fuel again now. The TA still has fuel, but the price is up to 3.85. The restaurant is packed full, the waitresses are haggard, two called off, and the tables take forever to get cleared, and your food takes an hour or more to arrive. The bathroom is a disaster area. I'll get another shower and used that bathroom before I use the regular toilet again unless they clean that pigsty up.
It's a fine mess here at exit 10 on I70 in Eaton OH.
    I'm headed for Chicago. LMAO
At the moment there are three truck wrecks within ten miles of here on westbound I70. Indy loop shows four accidents just on the half of it I would use. I65 is nothing but one lone list of accidents and warnings.
What a storm. I'd almost enjoy it if I wasn't looking at a short week, again. OTR is looking better and better. At least I'd have a chance of not being in this mess.
It looks like I might have a chance to get rolling late this evening or overnight, but more likely not until tomorrow. Then I have to worry about the Gary area. Over a foot of snow and closed highways. Packed snow on I80. Imagine. I80 with packed snow. Geeze.
Guess California will have to wait for it's pizza puffs, and I'll have to wait to pay my bills.

    Greetings from Tipton California.
Temp today was kinda cool. Only 62
Delivered my load yesterday to Wallyworld DC in Porterville, then headed over tothis little TS for the night. No freight today. Have a load assnmt for tomorrow. Two pick, then off to Ft Worth.
My luck continues to hold. Southern routing.
My reset will be complete tomorrow at 5am, so another full set of hours to head out with.
3200 miles last week. A good one.
Especially considering how so many have been buried under the weather.
Was going to try and go home, but it will have to wait. Don't want to get stuck in that weather. Besides, once I go north again, I'll get stuck onto northern runs.
    Stay warm everyone.

I find these posts very intresting since "Stevens Transport" Boast we dont drive in "Ice" and have a "Chain Gang" as we dont drive in snow (as we all know the chains dont even fit the wheels??????).

What ever happened to common sence in these really bad conditions looks like Stevens have there fair share of super truckers and from the accident reports latley a lot of Aliance Trainers having accidents ???what does that tell you i wonder?

Any way try to be safe guys remeber "No load is worth wrecking for" and if you do Stevens will blame you and you wont have a driveing job again

    Take care out there
