Picked up another Stevens driver at the Loves in Buckeye, AZ last night. We trailed each other to the Golden Acorn in the Laguna mountains. Started to rain as we came off the Imperial Valley floor and by the time we got into the Acorn lot, it was coming down in sheets, wind blowing...really nasty.
Made it in here at 03:26 with 4 minutes on my 11 to spare.
The Just in Time Kid does it again.
Went to bed, woke up with my winshield covered with snow.
Hey! this is San Diego!
Wandered inside the restaurant, had a great breakfast, sat and talked with a trainer and his student. They had a 0600 delivery in SD, but ran into freezing rain at the 61mp, turned around and are still sitting, waiting.
I am just now legal to run, so I think I'll try and head down to Jetro and play "let's back this trailer".
Asked for a meat load out of Brawley. I-8 is about the only road out of Cali right now.
Stay safe everyone.
BTW, a trick I learned when trying to do a reset under load...and it will pass muster with mother...
If you know you're stuck and so is everyone else (like at the 49'r in Sacto, waiting for Donner), find someone who is empty, ask to repower the load to them during your 34, then repower back. Technically you're empty and mother will let it slide.
Last time I did it, I never switched trailers. I did buy the other driver dinner for his help.

Stevens policy, can not do a 34 hour reset while under load. DOT policy, if you are off duty/sleeper birth for 34 continuous hours, that is a reset. I have done them under load, and nothing has been said.
Ask compliance about it, and they will be looking over your logs for when you do it.
Just like compliance saying we can only have one month of logs in the log book. I only have to have 7 days with me... after that I only keep the originals for the IRS.
Yes the sitting around and the lack of communications is getting back to bad. No repower for my load, that there was no way I could make legally, so I roll into my first receiver at 11am, for my 7am appt... they take me no problem... 7 pallets off... now 1230...
Head over to the 2nd receiver, only 15 miles away, and check in, sorry they stop at 1200... will have to reschedule for Tuesday...
Call stevens, being monday, get a response, the CSR is already working on it, to get me new appointments... she knew I would not make it with the messages I had sent. Now I offered to drive up to Austinberg OH for the 10pm appt, tonight, and then come back to Bedford OH for the morning appt... Have 2 pallets for eagle, and 5 pallets for Austinberg.. but no....
so Here I sit, in the staging area for Eagle, from 1230 today until 6am Tuesday....
and then a whopping 50 miles tuesday, for a 10pm appt. Talk about wasting away 2 days.
All for a grand total of 520 paid miles over 3 days....
This is starting out to be a bad week. But it is 66 degrees a light wind out of the north to help keep the truck cool...
I have internet... have not checked for TV yet...
Could be worse, I could have to leave here, and find a place to park, and then come back, wasting even more time and miles.
Oh well the life of a trucker... -
Yeah I figure they will probably spend a month goin over mine with a fine tooth comb. And when they all come up legit
will be in the clear. Watch out for this weather system up in OH. Just sweeping through UT now. It's a ##### and they were sayin it will bring even stronger winds hail and heavy rains with it through the midwest.

Man I tried again but no luck! They lifted the chain law for about 45 min this afternoon. Got back to the Ag station like Saturday and turned around and came back. Started snowing so hard they closed the road down. Got a message for a re-power tonight in Reno at 21:30. Hummmm a repower at a pass that has been impassable for 3 days. I bet I get a load that sits here until next week! But hey..... I got my health!!
-
Maybe they will repower ya empty so ya don't miss out on any of the wind.
I kid, hopefully soon things get back to "normal". -
Pick up in Yuma tomorrow noon, then head to Cleburne, TX.
That will give me a bit over 3,000 miles the first week on parole. -
Congrats! Parole seams to be working out so far! LOL!! Maybe you can repower with me. Just hang a left at the first chance!! -
Parolees should be setting on donner, not running the southern open roads... racking up the miles...
I am setting at the pilot an easy stones throw away from the gate to save a lot... for my 10pm appt... been here since 0700...
My phone rang at 0400 this morning for my 0600 appt... backed it into the door, the reciever pulled the 2 pallets of mini juices off the truck, which needed broke down into 5 pallets, so to rid myself of some frustration, I did the break down. Helped too!!!!
With all the hours I am not using, I will have 4 days of full hours to run... sure hope I get to use them. -
Dang, I wanna be on fleet 50 now :smt078. Ok not really lol.
Glad it worked out.
Headed to good ol laredo here. Should arrive 2 days early weather permitting. A nice 1300mile run is just what the dr ordered.

Hey I wouldn't wish Donner on anyone!! Soooooo glad to finally get out of Reno!!
One more night sitting there and I think there would have been troubl!! Actually got a re-power at 1am this morning from an O/O. He left me a load that was due at 6am this morning in Fairfield CA. and he took my 2 day late load and headed over the pass. Member of the chain gang! Nice guy. So like I said I made it over Donner, had a convoy of Stevens drivers just pissing everyone off! I laughed at them.
I felt bad for one trainee, I passed her and you could just see the death grip she had on the wheel. She must have been doing the 7-10 psi break trip down the Mt cause she was only going about 13 mph.
So I put in the running late message this morning saying I wont make the 6am delivery and that I would be there at 6pm instead. Never heard anything and here I set in Fairfield in front of my reciever and they are gone for the day! And yes there is nothing around to eat or do! Looks like computer night!Sleep tight Stevens peeps!!
