Well actually had no problem getting my next load assignment. I pick up in Ottawa, IL at IBP and is headed to CT. Only when I get down there the load had left already lol. So I call up dispatch and had a new load in 5 mins. Except it drops in Queens and Bronx at resteraunt depots. Now I'm not sure what is gonna happen since technically I'm still G3 but will call in the morning after I'm well rested and see what they want me to do. Doesn't look like it's too hard to get to but still.
Should be a nice loooooong run cross country with something outta there.
Hope they are keepin yall movin. Be safe.

Hello Smokr and the Group:
I used to be with FFE, and I think that It was one of the nicest companys to work for as a Trainee (starter) and It had some drop Yards and terminals in the Philadelphia PA area.
Unfortunately, I did not upgrade to Solo, so I am looking for something similar.
I am just wondering if Stevens has electronic logging, and what the quality is of their computer systems, if they are user friendly.
Where do they have their Orientations?
How long is their Training? I have (2) Months of Training with FFE, the longest amount of time that they offer.
By the Way do You know if Stevens has any drop Yards or terminals in the Philadelphia PA area? -
Stevens has one terminal, Dallas TX, one other yard, Laredo TX...
We do drop trailers at customers, but that is it.
Transitioning to Electronic Logs, as time goes.. Qualcom system... I have not used it.
All orientation takes place in Dallas. -
As time goes by, you will learn where these good repower points are...
I avoid them like the plague...
I would work with your current DM first... changing DM's should not be your first choice, but only down the road. You are correct that DM's prefer to repower within their own fleet first. That is the only place they actually have control over your loads... the rest is requests to the planners and dispatchers... and then it depends on their working relationships there too.
Now back to back weeks like that and I would have a long talk with my DM... I have, and I will again... Stevens is NOT a proactive company, as they are always busy trying to save loads that are late, and drivers that just can not handle the job...
And some weeks it seems we just get out of the loop, and wait on loads...
Unless your Emulsified who gets a load and 2 preplans???? (Cott Beverage to Walmart, chicken to the west coast.)Knew B. Wannabee Thanks this. -
Queens, not too bad.
Few long runs out of the north east... just short ones, to get you in position for a middle length run.Nighthawk325 Thanks this. -
Welcome KB.
Seeing as ya already have your cdl, that makes life a little easier. OR1 1 week Phase 1 5-9 weeks OR2 1 week Phase 2 3-4 weeks. How previous training will affect that I couldn't tell ya though.
The QC system does it's job. Nothing fancy on our end. All the bells and whistles go to the desk jockies. It's basically an oversized text messenger with forms programmed in. Kind of our life line as it were. I love it though less time on hold and maptuit lmao. -
Bloody hell I can't handle anymore short hops lol. Will aim for a repower somewhere in PA.1826 this week. My first week solo was better lol.
Thanx for the heads up on the blindside. Backing isn't necesarilly my strong suit but I can usually work it in. I have a feeling blindside down a narrow alley is gonna take a while lol. -
Dropped my Cott load this morning. Am in Amarillo where I got a shower, breakfast and am now waiting for a trailer washout before heading up to OK for my meat load.
I think I'm spoiled this weekend...preplans, loads, ... I've actually had to start counting my hours to PLAN. (no reset in the last couple weeks)
Spent the better part of the last week running nights. Brings back old memories.
We'll see how this meat load goes. Maybe I can run in daylight again. -
And the Brooklyn is not that bad... just a narrow 2 lane street, with home depot next door, and the cars and trucks. Yep 1826 is a bad week. -
Look! Rolling down the highway! It's a bird! No, it's a plane! No, it's Smokr on a good week!
lol
That was a week worth repeating. In fact, I hope I get to.
Anyway, the safety meeting with Kip went well. Can't believe how much this fleet has grown just in the time I've been on it. Had breakfast at the Petro, then we went to the hotel for the meeting next door. It was mostly over by 1pm, and then it was time for those of us with a little 'x' on our folders to stay around. I had that little backing accident a while back, and it was my time for a 'low speed skills test'.
Ugh.
And he picked me last. But once that was done, time for a reset. Then off with 44,300 lbs of frozen hamburger patties to Cincinnati. Got here a few minutes ago and already being unloaded. Nice.
Then a break and who knows where to next. I hope I end up with that New Albany to Chicago rail, then pick up at the rail and to Columbus, then deadhead to New Albany to rinse and repeat all week.
Right now those storms are moving in and about an hour away.
Guess I'll break here, plenty of room.
With luck, when I get up this afternoon I'll have preplans.
New Albany . . . New Albany . . . New Albany!
lol
Oh, and I got my Centennial Wireless card yesterday, so I have wireless all around the country now. Weee! Hulu galore!
So, welcome to the new guy, and hellos all around.
Keep 'em rollin' and between the lines!
