Those macro 19s can drive a man crazy, and make one not want to do trip plans... I still do trip plans, but not like that.. I know how far I can go for the day, and where I will be stopping for the day... as for the breaks, they happen when they happen..
A permanent DM is a pipe dream...

Sure wish stevens would update their computer system and software...an AS400 just can not keep up with todays laptop.

Some interesting things from the posts, like being repowered to a load, yet the soft plan is still on the truck, although you will be 1000 miles away... a good programmer could make the computer change that soft plan too... or at least release it back to the pool of unplanned loads.

My adventures with dispatch in Houston... Started my day a 0230, and drove 2 hours to make my 0500 appointment... then off to my second drop at 1030, drove 30 minutes, arrived at 1100, for my 1300 appt... so far so good... and I am 4 miles from the J on I45.... empty at 1400, send in my empty call, saying I have 2:30 left on my 14.. being truthful... And I emphasized it in the comments... 30 Minutes later, I head for the J, no load. As I pull into the J, QC beeps, load picks up on the west side of Houston, this morning, and delivers to Plainview Tuesday... I can park at the shipper for the night, so I head on over, and arrive at 1530... check in, and get told by the shipper, "your dispatcher really screwed this one up... see this pick up number, that 105 is friday... this is Monday, we will not load you." Call, and inform my DM of this, and that my 14 is up in 30 minutes...
Load cancelled, new load sent, picks up in the south side of Houston at 1730... delivers in OK, 0800... Not gonna happen my 14 is up, and no way can I make the south side of houston in 30 minutes during rush hour... I call again, get told if I don't accept the load, it will count as a refusal... I say we shall see what the bosses say about that, since I will not violate federal law... and I hang up, and hustle back to the J... arriving with 5 minutes on my 14....

Getting ready to Call Smokie, when the the QC beeps, load assignment, Tyson, picks up Tuesday Morning, Delivers to Orefield PA Friday... And I did NOT get paid the 1 mile deadhead for pickup... being in houston and all, even though I had to drive 50 miles to the cancelled load, and back to tyson.

A load that should have picked up on Friday... Trying to slam any truck onto the OK walmart load, with total disregard for hours of service...

My punishment load works just fine... I have a whole bunch of 7 and 8 hour days on my log book... just the way the loads worked last week. So I am taking my time across the country, and will have no problem arriving in PA on time... and then I pick up 10s for 2 days...
So I lost a 500 mile load due to it being monday, then my 300 mile "refusal" when I was out of hours, to a 1600 mile run...

If Stevens would spend 1/2 the time thinking and planning, that they spend on repowers and late loads, things would run so much smoother, and efficiently.

A computer is only as smart as the information given to it, and what the programmer has told it to do with that information... Obviously Stevens really needs to update their computers, and the software... and pay attention to the hours a driver has...
NOT all of us start our day at noon... some of us have put in a full day before they even come to work.

    //// end rant ////

Got to watch a car and pick up get blown off the road this morning in Tuscaloosa AL as a thunderstorm rolled and blew across... I was setting in the TA, as the truck rocked back and forth... reported straight line winds of 70 MPH. Watching it rain tonight in Dandridge TN.

it probably doesnt help that not everyone is on e-logs and planners/dms still can be clueless about a drivers situation. ive already got 1 violation for moving the truck im not getting another.

    SO TRUE!!!

    CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP!!!

Broke down in laredo. Well not broke down, I caught the problem before it got alot worse so the tech had to do some digging. Found a loss of combustion over 1300 rpm and a problem with the dpf firing head.

Now I'm catching crap for not having enough miles to go alliance:biggrin_25516:. Funny I was qualified last week... but not this week lol. 2500+ a week minus weather shutdowns and breakdowns making for a couple of bad weeks in the mix. I just told my dm I don't pick the weather or the delivery times or the lack of repowers or the repair schedule for the truck etc etc. When that truck moves I'm perpetually out of hours lol.

Anyways he's gonna get back with tom and see if he can get it straightened out. So wait and see as always :biggrin_25522:.

And held up on G3 cause I haven't been sending in my 19s whoops. I told em if I couldn't trip plan none of these loads would be getting there on time. And besides I've been repowering left and right for 400mile or less runs. My trip plan would look something like depart 0500 arrive 1800 end of plan. Anyways sending em in with the big trips. Otherwise keepin the wheels turning.

    Be safe all.

    Nighthawk,
If there is one thing that grad students are required to do faithfully, it's their trip plans. They are not forgiving in that area.
I knew one driver that stayed in the grad fleet over nine months because he kept forgetting his 19's.
    (Yes...he's still driving for Stevens!)
    Just do 'em!

A word to the wise, everyone...
Friday is Good Friday. Shippers are squirrely.
If you are emptying out friday or saturday, get on your DM NOW for a preplan, or I can guarantee you will be sitting all weekend.

Got to my shipper at noon. Load due to load at 1900. Was out of there at 1500.
Now I get to drive in daylight! Whoo hooo!

See you all on the road.

Just did my first run in to Canada. Not as bad as some of the horror stories that I have heard about. Had problems with cashing T-checks and the cost of everthing is insane. $45.00 for a washout. Yeah and the people at customs can
come off as really gruff personalites, even the attractive young ladies.
Drving in Quebec took some getting used to felt like i was in europe but, with North American trucks. Took my 34 up there and got to watch some hockey!
Some nice truckstops up there and the Canadian drivers were good people.

The horror stories of Canada are just that.
I've been going for years and with the advent of the PARS process, it's a piece of cake.
But for whatever reason, it's just one of those things people like to freak new drivers out with.
Like driving in New York, Cabbage Hill and mother...:biggrin_25514:
