Makes one wonder why someone who is so happy where they're at, has to find time to criticize people at other companies.
Lack of testosterone?

I've also been sending a lot of income verification documentation and jumping through hoops but each time I do it seems my documentation isn't good enough and there is some other policy I need to meet which I previously did not know about. I understand that trucking companies must verify things but I have found that in this case it goes far beyond what I have ever had to deal with before -- way beyond even the IRS and government student loans or what I provided to Schneider National. And I wonder what else will come up and when...and this is what worries me.
Stevens seems like a good company to learn and grow with and I don't want to burn my bridges but I don't think I will be going to Dallas unless I already have my CDL in hand, have a BMI less than 34, BP below 135/85, my sugar checked, and have been assured three times that my paper work is in order. Too much uncertainty for my tastes otherwise.
Thank you again, sir, for sharing these details. -
In St Paul MN tonight at the Stockman's Truck stop.
Ever been there?
Last time I was here was the winter of '81.
Hasn't changed much. Still that nice decor of havest gold and chocolate brown.
Same waitresses (I think) This place opened in the 40's. That's when the waitresses came to work here.
But the food is good and cheap. Best two combos for drivers!
Only lost three trucks tonight as they dropped into the chuck holes.
I've seen smaller bomb craters.
Looks like the lane spaces were set up for the old Diamond-Rios.
But what the heck. I fit in.
Next driver that gets trailer 10055 will have to wipe the vasoline off.
Soft planned for a load out of Iowa to Texas tomorrow.
You know what 'soft planned' means don't you?
Yup! Looking for freight.
Oh well. Antwon will get me something. If for no other reason, to not have to listen to me complain over the QC.
Hope you're all doing fine. No one in Springfield MA last night, I hope.
If you're traveling down south right now, keep cool.
Up north we're just trying to stay earthbound.
see you all down the road.Dryver Thanks this. -
Headed home, gonna take me a nice long break.Im toast.Gonna lie around the pool, grill some steaks, drink a little cervesa, and play a little golf.Ten days oughta do it.

Well today's my truck driving anniversary.
39 years ago, the dispatcher asked me, "Kid, can you drive?"
I said,"yea...sure!" Figured it was a straight truck.
He threw the keys to a driver and told him to "check him out".
I climbed up into the cab of a '68 Freightliner cabover, stared at the dash and the driver said, "...ain't never driven one of these, have ya?"
"Nope."
"Well you're gonna learn."
so we spent the morning driving around the yard, then just before lunch he took me down to DMV where I passed a 16 question written exam and Presto! I had a permit.
Then we spent the afternoon driving around Portland, went back to DMV and the examiner had me bobtail around the parking lot once while he stood out on the sidewalk watching me.
I finished, he handed me a piece of paper and said "congratulations."
I had my class 1 chaueffer's license (the predecessor to the CDL)
That evening, I was pulling doubles to Salt Lake as a team driver.
And that's how I got into this bloody business!
But not to worry... it's only a temporary gig. I hope to get a real job one day. -
Yeah, the same day you grow up! -
The worst part of a longer vacation break... the last day before going back on the road, and restocking the truck...
But the 2 weeks off was much needed, had a great time in charlotte. Now it is the waiting game to see how they are going to get me rolling. Was told no meat loads until later in the week. -
well, I have failed!
the debacle on Donner today ate up my hours. (chains required until close to noon.)
got to receiver in Stockton (kraft) and they put me in the dock, then realized I was 24 hours early, so sent me on my way.
I begged, pled and cajoled, but here I sit at Ripon Flying J with a full trailer, zero hours left and none coming back at midnight.
I think my DM will be disappointed.
Oh well!
The good news in there is more freight in Cali right now than trucks.
The bad news is the meat loads. Tyson has started a new 'grading' system and so far this month we have 4 late loads, with about 9 more teetering this afternoon on the east coast. If you wonder why everyone was so stressed today, that's why.
So here I sit.
At least my reset will be partially during the 72 hour blitz that starts at midnight tonight.
Ended up with a hair over 3700 miles this week.
Mother is going to have a talk with me for sure!
