    Morning fellow drivers, and readers...
After dropping my load in Stockton, which had to be a live unload, although there were 4 empty trailers setting at Excel, I get a produce preplan.
All well and good, but first over to the Kenworth dealership to get the crankcase filter changed... has to be done at a dealership according to stevens. A 10 minute job.
My produce load is 3 picks, 1st pick is in dinuba, 150 miles south, so down I go, and check in at 1600... my pickup number is not right, what a surprise, then she asks me what am I picking up, Blueberries, oh, just a minute, this for safeway, yes, oh that number is good, but it will be later tonight, the product has to cool first...
at 0030 I am loaded, so a finish my 10, and head to the second pick, in Bakersfield, 120 miles south...
At bolthouse farms... ugh ugh ugh... check in at 0500, get sent to the office, no pick up scheduled I am told... after about 30 minutes of digging, she finds the order, and says we will give you a call when we are ready.. back to the truck, 5 hours later, into a door, 3 hours later I have my 5 pallets of carrots, and off to my third pick...
Near El Centro CA, on 360 miles south...

Tried to call ahead, but could get no answer, so I arrive at 2030, only one truck at the shipper, and the docks are dark.. check in, see that I just made it as they close at 2100... back into the door, and get my 4 pallets...

finish out my 2 hours break to match my 8 from earlier in the day, but I am exhausted, so I drive the 7 miles over to scale, and call it a day... My other choice was to drive 30 miles and call it a day, in Yuma AZ, due to the log book...

Now I am supposed to be in Denver at 10am Monday...
Sunday Morning, can leave at 9 am local time... only 1050 miles to go via shortest route, or 1250 to go via stevens route... Sure could make use of a teleporter, or maybe some wings and jetpacks...

Thanks for the update on elogs smokr... now is some of your complaints about it being slow, the learning curve, or is Qcomm just that bad?

Some companies allow personal transportation on elogs, some do not... up to the company. Did stevens say anything about personal transportation to you Smokr?

Anyone who says it is Stevens fault for loosing their family, home, cars, is NOT taking responsibility for their own actions.. Recruiters have one job to do, that is to get you to accept what they are selling... It is up to you to do your own research, before going. Can you make UP TO $50,000 a year, yes you can, will you the first year, NO. will you the Second year, probably not. Anyone changing career paths, and going to stevens is a BIG change, will suffer pain, with change in lifestyle, and change in pay.

Don't come to trucking with your eyes wide shut, with dreams of big money, and easy times... It takes work, dedication, knowledge, and a thick skin to make big money.
Trucking is NOT for cry babies, who expect everything given to them.

Stevens honestly expects out of 100 students for only 10 to still be employed after 3 months, that is the end of training.. after 6 months, only 5 will still be at stevens...
after 1 year, only 2 will still be at stevens...
So many wash out before boot camp is over. Others do exactly what they planned to do, get trained at Stevens, and then move to another company. It is what one chooses to make of it.

    Rattlebunny Thanks this.

This is the attitude that gets so many people into trouble today. Saying it is evil for a recruiter to say you can make up to $45000 a year, which is true, but where are you going to find ANY job that STARTS you at $45,000 a year, with NO previous experience or Education in the field?????
That Government subsidy is available to any business who hires and trains an unemployed person. A person getting screwed by a promise, is a fool. As Barnum use to say, a fool is born every minute.

sending the message that it is ok for a stevens recruiter to lie;to get you in the front door.does not make it right. other trucking companies are fairly straight forward from day 1.stevens is not.

Haha, you obviously haven't done your homework- CR England promised me the world, talked me in circles, avoided all negativity- and also promised I would make more than the national average ( $ 39,000) In my first year.

Prime trucking made promises of adventure and hometime every 3 weeks. Told me I could condense the training from 6 months to 3 if I was good enough. HAHAHA, these recruiters are paid to get people in. Is it ok to lie- no, but what kind of man believes everything he is told without further research.....an idiot thats who!!!!

By the way there are plenty of forums for bitter ex employees of Stevens, find one!!!

This forum was started in order to avoid all that " Self Truth", - Good day!!!:biggrin_2559:

maybe i came off the wrong way. i am saying do your homework. it worked for me. most do not do their homework and get screwed. trucking life is not easy. believing the stevens recruiter,or the stevens way, will not work for those currently laid off from good jobs.(the economy is full of men/woman looking for good jobs).admit it old timer stevens drivers. the first 5 months at stevens ,you will be lucky/hardcore to even average $350 a week before taxes. if you are prepared on your own,you can make it. if not, don't think you are going to make descent money in your first year. the recruiter for stevens is a broke ### liar. you signing on ,is how he earns his living

No company is straight forward from day one...
    Get real.
We all get it, you think Stevens screws people. That is your opinion. Most people who get screwed, did not do their homework, and believed the pie in the sky dreams they want to hear.
Stevens answered every question I put to them, with the answer they thought I wanted to hear... That is how recruiting works. I also am intelligent enough to not believe everything I am told, and researched and came to my own conclusions.

    hello from Sky city..

A very fun day with the weekend crew.
Awoke this morning, sent in my produce call, running late, and repower request, listing where I would be stopping and ETA's. About an hour later, get a message, looking to repower you in Barstow area...
My thoughts, can you guys in Dallas read, and understand a map... I am in El centro CA, I8 going to Denver..
But I am more diplomatic on the QC, and say That is way out of route, my route is I8 to 85 to I10 to I17 to I40 for the day...
answer back, isn't your route I15 to I80 from California to Denver...
My answer, Not when your on the Mexico Border...

Headed out, when legal, and stopped about 3pm dallas time to do my produce check call, and remind them I would not be in Denver by 10 am monday... How far can you get today? Sky city is my limit..
not 10 minutes later, repower is set up for sky city...
Now I have to make it there... and did, used my full 11 hours drive time to do it...
But my load is headed to denver, only 505 miles away..
And here I am with a wonderfully empty trailer...
Makes for a great start to next week.

    Miles for this week, 2952.

not all companies lie. my company now is not as big as stevens ,cr england, knight, etc. it is basically controlled by the teamsters. everyone is very straight forward. it is expected behavior.that is why the business is successful. without needing a gov welfare handout, like stevens.when you come out of NYC and go to kraft,PU that trailer of pallets, that has not been unloaded in years.you have to know that ,that is a gov handout. kick me down if you want. i can do some kicking of my own. stevens is a welfare company that treats it's drivers like welfare recipients.look around.your DM's don't even treat you like a human....................... you can stick your head in the sand like an ostrich.that way if you don't see the truth, it does not exist.correct?

I think you have your opinion and it differs from others on this forum about Stevens. There are obviously drivers that are very happy working for this company. I am not sure if you are trying to convince them that you are right and they are wrong, but we get the message. As others have said, start your own thread about what is negative about Stevens and leave this one for the drivers that have something positive to say. Having many pages of the same argument is very boring and a waste of everyones time.
