Sorry i disagree with the teamsters, so will not work for them...
So you either drive a school bus, or drive for an LTL... but are too ashamed to say who you work for...
And I will say it again, anyone who enters a new career and expects $40,000 a year with no experience and no training is a fool.

stevens wants you to quit
stevens does not care if you are a good driver or not.they want you to quit so they can bring in a new guy and get that federal government money(corporate welfare). alot of guys that have been here a while are so broke, they live on there trucks. they have home towns, but no home, car, nothing. now they can not afford to quit.they can be indentured slaves or homeless in the winter. last month i ran 11,000 miles.now i am trying to get home for a wedding. they have me where they want me.i am sitting 1,000 miles from home. they want to send me another 1,000 miles from home even though i have been on the road for 8 weeks straight and need to get home for a wedding, that i told them about 6 weeks ago.what choice do i make. quit or volunteer for slavery.......this is an evil company. if you are new stay away from stevens transport. if you are on the job contact al sharpton, jesse jackson...tom cruise, because civil rights are being abused here.
We all know that he quit. -
Wow...just wow. Once a troll...always a troll.

TLEAHEART.laughing at me for having a bad day.says more about you than it does me. says alot about the mentallity of stevens employees like you. why are you still there?you can't earn a living? you live on your truck. i can tell by your post. do you even own a car? we all know you stay with friends and family on your home time. why try to influence others to live your lonely life at a discount wage job?
-
Tleaheart.......sorry you disagree with the teamsters.the difference in pay and home time is HUGE. the teamsters are strong in wyoming.the teamsters can allow you to live a real life ,as opposed to the stevens life

Lets keep the posts friendly and respectful PLEASE.
Shiftylots, Rattlebunny and Emulsified Thank this. -
What a shame, the staff admin has to bring the warning to this forum finally. Let me just tell you that I love this forum, following all the drivers through there daily routine, both good and bad. I have read all the other forums related to Stevens over the last couple years, this one is by far the best.
If you dont have anything good to say about your day or the life (Stevens22) feel free to join the other ex-haters in "Stevens Transport A Bad Trucking Report" Forum. You and all the other disgruntles can waste time telling stories of being lied to, and broken promises. This forum was made so that new truckers, wannabes, and current drivers could share stories about their life. An outlet of sorts. Please do not piss on this forum board anymore, there are bathrooms available elsewhere.
P.S. Smokr was taking care of his sick mother- verified by the family doctor- he started this forum and should be shown a little respect. Dont be a hatter, join us or move on, a real man does not look back but only forward. Thanks for the warnings but smart men also do not believe everything they hear.....sorry you did!!!Corporal_Clegg and Retired Thank this. -
I wasn't so much taking care of my sick mother, I was allowing my mom to die at home instead of putting her away in an old folks home. She had limited time left and had always said she didn't want put in a retirement home. Like her mother who lived with us for her last years until she passed on in 1985.
I sold my home, my second car, and put most of my things into storage and moved in with her for her final years after taking care of my dad after his stroke. These are two things in my life I feel I deserve respect for doing, not starting this thread, and having someone turn them into something else is painful and unacceptable.
The fact that you constantly turn them into 'living with his parents' or 'living in his parents basement' only proves you a troll.
And my Stevens opportunity that you seem to want to turn into something else, was the result of my researching a ton of companies and schools, including talking to drivers from all companies as well as independents at the truck stop near the town I was living in. I used to play with toy trucks as a kid, then I built model trucks as I got older. Trucks have always fascinated me, and riding with relatives who drove them was always thrilling and loads of fun.
I also like electronics and television and radio, so I tried them as well. I got my Bachelor in Electronics Technology in 87 and spent a few years in that field. Then I got a chance to do radio and did so for ten years. Finally I'm doing trucks. I've been lucky enough to have three things I wanted to do for a living and to get a chance to do all three of them.
This thread is meant as a friendly chat area, but you constantly drop in to complain. If you really had such a terrible time at Stevens, sorry, but take it elsewhere.
Here wannabes can ask questions of current drivers and current drivers can chat with each other.
If you want to bash Stevens there are already several threads where you are king. Stay in them. If you must come in here, stay away from regurgitating the same old tired lies and bashing posters, and just join in the fun.Last edited: Jul 10, 2011
Rattlebunny and Corporal_Clegg Thank this. -
Well, changing directions here...
Made it to Dallas this morning. Repowered my meat load from Lexington to a driver waiting for his load in Waterloo. Then picked his up and repowered it in Dallas, brought his Hershey load to yard.
Phew!
Oh yea...also brought his O-1 student to the yard so he can start O-2 on monday.
So I got thru the safety lane and all the nonsense finally about 6am.
Have a class starting at 8am, so sleep is an overrated commodity.
The yard is packed with trucks and trailers!
Nice to see the trailers. Last time I was in, they were almost non existant.
I'm not sure where they're going to put all these trucks, now that the sun is up. The back is full too.
But I found a slot (legal) right after the shop grabbed a truck to work on. So I'm good to go.
Unless they kick me out for having the most bug coated tractor on the lot.
At least I got a shower and my laundry done. Almost feel human again.
Stopped at the Joplin 44 yesterday for my 10. It's a mini Iowa 80. Really nice. If you get a chance to stop there, check it out.
The theatre gave the student something to do while I slept the sleep of the dead.
My real problem is going to be re acclimating myself to days. I've been on nights since coming off hometime three weeks ago.
For anyone considering Stevens and concerned about the negative posts on this thread, consider this: Why would someone spend so much time badmouthing something he doesn't like, was not successful with or can even post accurately?
Bitterness!
Bitterness at having failed.
Stevens is a top notch training facility that will equip a driver wanting to succeed, and who will apply themselves, with all the tools to make a career out of driving.
Keep in mind they are a TRAINING company.
Would you berate Harvard because few students are there 5 years after having gone there?
Or do you find fault with Roadmaster because their students are gone after 4 weeks?
Steven's model is to train new drivers. They expect you to go elsewhere once you have your training. Some of us stay because we like it here.
I've been around the block a couple times. I can tell you better than almost anyone on this thread that Stevens is heads above most other trucking companies.
That is unless you like to cut corners, run illegal, fear scales and inspections and know more than anyone else.
It is very relaxing to know I don't have to worry about the quality of the equipment, the standards of management or the finances of the company.
Stevens REQUIRES you to be good.
To quote Donald McCue, "Gentlemen (ladies), to be good, you must first endeavor to excel!"
If you are not willing to apply yourself, work hard and be the best, Stevens is not a long term choice for you.
I have run across many former Stevens drivers who now own their own trucks, work for other fleets or have even left the industry. But for the most part, they are very complementary of Stevens for what they learned and the skills Stevens equipped them with.
Feel free to ask specific questions. We won't BS you. We'll tell you like it is so you can make the best decision for yourself.
(quietly steps off soapbox)Dryver, flightwatch, Corporal_Clegg and 1 other person Thank this.
