They actually were offering $100 to anyone who would repower the tropical fish load... 30 drivers turned it down...
Went over to make my 0700 appt at Kane is Able... well there were not very able on monday... is was noon before they figured out what they were doing, and started loading the 5 stevens trucks that had all rolled in an hour apart...
Then I get told this will be a live unload at Excel, union City GA.... on Wed 1230...
2 full days for 850 miles... It is not getting any better...
But I took a chance, and pulled in at 1600 this afternoon, and played dumb... they took the load, I dropped it in a door, and got any empty, with 1 hour left on my 11...
Send in my empty call, and head quickly down the road to a truck stop... found it, and it actually had parking... signs up saying one must have a parking permit.. so I go in and inquire, since I am staying with the truck, just sign in...
Eat dinner, and get back to the truck, and see I have a message... bed down for the night, we will start again in the AM... larry...
There are 4 other Stevens trucks at this place.
My gentle talk with my DM went well... I think.. will see what this week brings, but I will be headed to the yard soon... 90 days are just about up again.

So my APU has been down since last week (out of freon). Got empyty in El Cento CA and after driving all nite from Flagstaff had not enough hrs for the dispatch that was offered. So instead idling the truck in 115 degree heat for hrs! I decided to check in at the Comfort in next to the truck stop there. Kinda nice to do from time to time when say your taking your 34 and have been out for 2 months like I have. Just having a T.V remote and 70 channels to choose from made my night!
Also having a pool and fitness room it was well worth it, CDL discount included.
Don't get my wrong I'd rather not have the time and be racking up the miles but, if you can spare 60$ do it! -
Right now lucking out with my APU down gotta run from San Diego up to Ontario Oregon. Gonna see if they will let me deadhead to Boise to get Thermo King to fix the APU.

Must be the APU season.
Mine is working again. Needed a belt.
Dispatched from Phoenix to P/U in Brawley.
Dropped the trailer. Down at the 111 truck stop waiting for the load to take me to West Jorden UT. Then a preplan from Ogden (Hershey) to Lancaster, CA.
After that I'm looking for a load to Northern British Columbia so I can get some reasonable temps to run in!
Other than that.... -
Since I live in North Carolina, Stevens offered me a spot on a new Dedicated run theyre trying to fill. 2300 - 2900 miles per week with 2300 guaranteed. And be home every week for a day and a half. Sounded good. Then I find out that it predominantly delivers to Delaware, Massachusetts and New Jersey ... uhh, no thanks lol.

Training question: In the information that Stevens sent me, it is noted that shorts, tennis shoes, tank-tops, and sweats are not allowed during school hours.
I'm hoping that my Columbia boots/shoes would be acceptable but I'm more wondering about being in 100 degrees Dallas heat wearing long pants. How relaxed (if at all) is the "no shorts" during the summer heat?
Ive read somewhere that during training, you will have a traditional sit down interview but I'm wondering if I should have some decent shirts rather than just Tee's in my wardrobe...? -
shorts are not recommended during training. the red shirts will tell you to change. your boots should be fine. for the interview, i saw students all the time with dress shirts (no ties) but some with regular nice (blank) shirts or t-shirts. i wouldnt suggest wearing your "<--- im with stupid" shirt until you get out on the road
although to be honest, i have gotten away with wearing either sneakers or shorts out on the hill, but not both. you'll stick out like a sore thumb and someone will tell you something. -
Well, stuck in Groveport again. Rolled in last night/early morning and no empties. The trailer I dropped has been loaded and sits waiting for someone to pick it up. I'm still sitting here waiting. I can't bobtail into the next pickup, so I have to wait for an empty.
Going on twelve hours sitting still after only 250 miles yesterday.
sigh -
Picked up the meat load from Brawley this morning. Just coming into Virgin River Canyon. Will make West Jordan tonight and deliver in the morning. Sure am glad to be out of that100+ temp AZ, CA desert!
Preplan is now to pick up from Gooding, ID tomorrow afternoon and head to ILL.
Keep on truckin'! -
As far as an interview, I never had one. We all had go into the "principles" office for an "interview" but all he did was make sure that all of the employment verification was done. It wasn't a real interview. Don't worry about dressing nice. I was drenched in sweat wearing jeans and t shirt.
