I can't count the number of times I've had that for an answer. And I was only working for Stevens for 6 months back in '08. My wife can't believe that I miss all that and wanna go back.:biggrin_25524: I'm working on getting started again this fall. Got some minor issues to work out (getting back the CDL after Massachusetts refused to transfer it ... long long story:biggrin_2556:) but I will be back by the end of the year. Not sure if it will be with Stevens again ... have heard that I'm not welcome to apply ... not sure why. Never had a service failure, accident, citation or anything like that. I guess I fell out of favor or something. Good luck with the fun, you guys really keep me going late at night sitting at the harbor bored off my ###.:biggrin_25523:

    Hey,
Just wondering how many of the drivers in this forum are using T-Mobile cellular service, and how is the reception on the road for you guys? Are the newbies still beeing issued t-2000 after training, or t700's? I understand that Stevens is pushing very hard for drivers to sign a Lease deal, are people who want to remain Company drivers still supported in that decision by management? What are the trucks normally equipped with when you get them- what is the best internet service to go with on the road- do truck stops normally have WiFi codes that can be purchased during your layover? Thanks:biggrin_25520:

Most truck stops have wi-fi service.I have T-Mobile and for the most part the service is good.A few dead spots just like any other provider.Usually in the boonies. You can always be a company driver, just say no thanks to the lease-deal.They are not gonna say adios because you dont want to be a contractor.Just politely say no and move on.As far as what the trucks are equiped with you need to be more specific. Most have apus now if thats what you are talking about.

I now have AT&T, not by choice, but by merger... So far good coverage for both the phone and aircard...

Trucks are standard equipped. AM/FM radio. All now have an APU, with an inverter. You want a frig, you buy it. Truck stops have wifi, and most charge for it.
You will have to say no more than once to convince them if you don't want to do the lease.

Thanks for the help!! I was talking about Apu mostly, something to charge the electronics that keep us connected. What is the average price for the wi fi at the truck stops, and how much does the average fridge cost for the trucks? Thanks again as I know you all lead very busy schedules , I appreciate the time taken to answer these newbie questions. See you all soon Im sure!!!

Wi-fi at the stops costs 4.79 per day or 19.99 for a month or 169.99 for a year. You can buy a fridge at walmart for less than a c note.I have a 17 inch flat screen with a dvd player that cost 139 at walmart.Cbs range from 39.99 to how much do you want to pay.GPS starts at 299 for trucker specific.Me personally,I dont hjave gps. Will get you into more trouble than they are worth,in my opinion. Some guys swear by them,I have a perfect service record and I dont have one if that tells you anything.Fiqured I would go ahead and answer some more questions before you asked, lol.

When I was new I used the simple logic on the lease dealers.

"I'll consider it, but I'm new to the whole trucking game and would like to put in a year or so before I commit to something like that."

    They didn't bother me again.

Still in Shreveport LA... still brokedown... Parts are ordered, a whole laundry list, all to do with the EGR and DPF.... They the dealership hope to have me up and running tuesday afternoon...
Did not even have to ask about breakdown pay, my DM was on top of it, and has it all set up, since I have been keeping them informed. So this month will be the worst month I have ever had with Stevens after 3 years... A slow week around the 4th, then a slow week after so I took the weekend off, then a slow week the 2nd week. The third week started out good, with my own initiative in delivering early, then the break down on Thursday morning.. Might get rolling Tuesday Afternoon, only to stop again, as my 90 days are up, and my truck needs a Texas inspection before the 31 of july... so from here it is to the yard, or would have been today with a repower.. hopefully they can find something tuesday.
Maybe 6200 miles for the month.
Sure glad I know how to manage my cash flow.

    Rattlebunny Thanks this.
