So mistermino let me see if I have this straight. The first week goes as such.....day one= paperwork....Day 2 is piss test and physical.....day 3 is the first day to take your permit test along with others? I am just confused.....what is the point of the school if you start testing on the first day? I am prepared I am just blown away that you would start testing the first actual day of class. What are the majority of the classes about, or is most of the time spent in the trucks learning to handle them, along with PTI? Thanks Again!!!

As a Stevens Academy Alumni, let me chime in. They don't want to waste a bunch of energy and time on those who do not pass the drug screen, and you must have a permit to drive the trucks off the premises. The first two days are make work to weed out some. They also told my class we might have to do some night classes, but we lost so many to the drug test it did not happen.Shiftylots Thanks this.

A traveling Stevens recruiter came to class the other day and told us Stevens will be replacing ALL their T200's with T700's and have already done a bunch of them.
-
Last week I was driving from WA to IA and passed a whole bunch of Stevens trucks, and the majority of them were T700's. Back when I drove for them they were just starting to bring in the T660's. I think I only saw 2 T2000's.

Input, please: A Stevens recruiter told me they need drivers with passports. I live in Michigan and have one, so what would that do for me?
-
It would get you loads that go over the border to the north. I've heard the talk that Stevens has issues with loads going there, not enough drivers capable of getting a passport and of those capable not enough willing.
So having one might make it possible for you to run loads that most drivers can't, so maybe you'll have high miles quite a lot. -
yep a passport allows you to be part of the border crossing canada fleet... two crossing points, michigan, and buffalo NY...
That is what the pass port will do for you.
and Kenworth stopped producing the T2000, and replaced it with the 700. -
I have heard many rumors about Stevens weeding out the guys who are drug users......I say hell ya to that. Blows my mind that someone would go into Stevens knowing full and well there piss is hot, idiots if you ask me. This job is not for drug abusers, thats how people get killed on the road. Not a prob for me, dont drink, dont drug.....not my style!!! Thanks for taking the time.
Wonder why my recruiter acted like I was crazy for speaking of night school, it must be known to happen. Not like it would have changed my mind about coming, so I am a bit confused on that!!!! Thanks again!!
-
Perhaps, since the school is a "separate entity" the recruiters are unaware that sometimes classes need to be split?
Shiftylots Thanks this. -
A bit frustrated, My recruiter was going over travel plans with me.....said she could not get me into Dallas before 10:30 pm Sunday night, with school starting the next AM. Not a big deal would just love to get some food and bearings before I start....looking into plane tickets.....then she could check me in on Friday night. This would leave time for getting food ect. Policy policy policy.....im getting the picture!!
