Made my delivery this morning, and me and the Student who is very relieved to be off that trainers truck have made it to the yard. He spent an hour talking to Beverly, and feels much better. He flys out in the morning to his new trainer. He has the attitude to make it, and I wish valentine Jaquene a great and safe trucking career.

Now I have to cough for the doctor in the morning, and get my load home. So tonight it gonna be spent on the yard, and I hope that my truck gets fixed. The Thermo King dealer that Stevens works with, burnt last night, with 3 brand new trucks. My APU has a coolant leak, which is a warranty issue, and they think TK will come to the yard Friday to fix. I sure hope so, as I have a pepsi load to Worland WY waiting for me, that delivers Monday Morning.

looks like my truck driving career is over before it started thanks to this thread. dont trust stevens. been a surveyor for twenty years and wanted a career change and had been thinking about truck driving. i refuse to waste my time with people who cant tell it like it is straight up then hide behind locked doors. i made 81k last year and that my friend is none of thier ###### business. its a joke you have to produce a w2 for a job paying 12k a year if your lucky. good luck to all you truckers ive really enjoyed reading about your experinces and am truley saddened that the truck industry and more specificaly stevens treats hard workin folks like animals.

Bigtex really sorry to hear about that. Was the breaking point because they asked for a W-2. I know they request that info and never really knew why. I had to produce my last 3 years of tax returns to confirm I had REALLY been working. I am doing the career change thing myself. Made a good living at my previous profession but time for a change. Good luck to you!

I don't think it would be a bad choice. Keep checking out other threads and other companies. You will find one best suited for you. Just so happens it is Stevens for me. I go to orientation March 7. Best of luck to you in your decision.:biggrin_255:

The reason they ask foe w-2's is to verify work history. They do a background check and the info you put on your app needs to match the background check. A pain in the ### yes, completely unreasonable, I think No. Good luck KJC I hop on the bus tomorrow and start class on Monday. See ya there.

morning truckers....hope everyone is safe on americas highways and byways. i produced a 1099 form and faxed it to stevens showing that i had been laid off last year. don't have a problem with that. she didn't say a word about going back three years. if they ask me for this info in dallas i do have a problem with that. i was supposed to start truck driving school at houston community college on feb 15 but my wife found information about stevens misleading new drivers. i did some investigating and found this to be true in many cases. talked to some old school truck drivers at a popular truck stop in houston and paying out of pocket for locks and other misc. equipment is a rip off. if you damage or loose equipment then you should pay. a new driver would not know this because he has been told by stevens that this is the norm. still considering a career with stevens because i understand that some of the testimonials i have read are from people speaking with emotion and not ration. i am a very outspoken person and speak my mind regardless of who i'm speaking to. this may be a problem from what i've heard about driving managers and dispatchers. any advice from you truckers already on the road with stevens would be appreciated. i was laid off my job after eleven years of service with the same company. when it comes to corporate america and all the bull butter attached i have a bad taste in my mouth and in some cases stevens sounds just like the rodants i wasted a decade of my life with. that's why i don't understand why i have to fax three years of w2's when all they have to do to verify my employment for the last eleven years is make a phone call to the number i have provided for them. the human resources department at my old company will furnish this information. any input will be greatly appreciated. be safe truckers and god speed be with you.

also found out that the total cost of the student loan is 7k and you have three years to pay it back. scam central(aka stevens) says after one year loan is forgiven. horse hockey! this info came from the head jack ### in charge of students loans. her name is shirley. i almost passed out and my wife had to hang the phone up for me. maybe i miss understood her. i sure hope so. can someone shed some light on this one?

with this attitude, don't bother coming to stevens or any other trucking company or job. You're better off being a hermit in the north woods of Montana protecting your cabin and perhaps sending cards and letters to old professors:)

Seriously, You are not purchasing the items directly. If you leave Stevens, turn in the stuff you did purchase (no matter how old) and you'll receive a full refund. The reason stevens does this is that drivers have a history of selling the stuff when things go financially bad for them. If you give away stevens lock, you haven't stolen it. You simply don't have a piece of equpment you could have turned in to receive your refund.

In either case, before you get the next job, get some mouthwash and learn a little trust. With that you'll go a long way wherever you go.
