I just completed my 3 weeks there in Keenesburg, CO. I can probably answer your question(s) for anyone thinking about going to Careers World Wide. I will be heading down to Stevens to do O1 next week but not this Monday. I would like to know if anyone is heading down same time as me.

I asked my trainer when I was at school if he heard about the so-called rumor that Stevens bought 60-sumthin % of Knight and said he wouldn't doubt it because Knight is based out in Arizona and they do alot of West Coast freight. So that could open up alot of work and partnerships. Sounds like a good fit, perhaps.

you got you cdl from keensburg?? not just a permit -
I did. You will have to complete a series of test from your tester and you will be given a certification (DOT certified) upon completion. Then you go to the DMV where you did your written CDL test and hand them the certificate where they will take it and take your CDL picture. You will recieve your CDL in the mail. If your wondering if you need to transfer your CDL to Texas, NO, you don't, unless you plan to live in Texas.Texas2Colorado Thanks this.

some loads are just problem loads, and the lack of communication at stevens makes it worse... Arrived at my reciever for my 1500 appt at 1400... thank god I did, as she informed me they had notified tyson, to deliver to there storage facility, not to the plant, and said I would need to contact my dispatcher then to find out where I was deliver..
I said I would do that, but would she tell me the name and address of where they wanted the product delivered so that I could verify I was getting the correct information. a couple of minutes later I had the address, and back by the TA in ontario, across the railroad tracks and down the street... call stevens to get the info, that I already have, and am told to wait... they will check with tyson...
I am already at the new drop point, but am being told I was supposed to be there at 0300... until they understood it was a 5 star deliver... then I became a work in, as all the lumpers go home at 1500... and it is now 1515...
at 1600 I finally get the information from stevens... yep I am at the correct place.
at 1800 they finally start to unload the 23 pallets of chicken breast meat. But this is a supervisor unloading me, and he is not very efficient with the motorized pallet jack..
1930 I am finally empty, and back over to the TA... a whole .6 miles away....
The place was empty... and never did even come close to full...
So all in all I am now on my load home to cheyenne for a 0315 delivery Monday, then the 3 hour drive to casper.Rattlebunny Thanks this. -
I was out for my 5-6 week truck training, and am now back in Dallas awaiting a new trainer, because after 32 days out with my trainer I still need zone A and C and one more mountain pass. I got Cajon Pass but need another. I my counselor at week three, four and five that it appears that my requirements were not going to happen in the required time, as my trainer was going to be back in the yard on 09/08/11. Why was this allowed to happen, because it has now set be back about two weeks? It seem as if no effort on the part of my trainer to get to those areas or the DM to send us to those areas. Can someone provide an answer to why was this allowed to happen? I was blamed as being a complainer when I pressed the issue.

It was your trainers fault pure and simple,In my two years of training,I have had no drivers not finish their requirements and be back on the yard within one day of their 35 or 21 as a finish driver.DenaliDad Thanks this.

I agree with Frogmeister ... it is your trainers responsibility to make sure you get all of your requirements in before the time is up, that's why Stevens pays them all the miles the truck gets weather he/she's driving or not. But, that said, there are times that the freight simply doesn't cooperate with everyone's plans. Take the opportunity while with the new trainer to learn a new way of doing things ... be as a sponge and soak it all up. It's a pain, but you'll be better for it later.DenaliDad Thanks this.

And there have been some weather issues. It's a good thing you got the Cajon Pass done. You would be waiting for it now.
