I'm under the impression that we do not have a job until we graduate. My pre-hire letter says something to the effect and based upon my answers to the application questions, I have met or exceed their minimum qualifications. The rest is up to me...

    Shiftylots Thanks this.

You are not "hired" untill you complete the 3 weeks of school and have your CDL. You are guaranteed a job as long as you complete the school and get your CDL

I tried to order a copy on-line but apparently the audit number on my license is no longer valid so would have to wait for my new license if I want to do it on-line. I'll call the local office and ask them, I may just have to send off for it. Type 2 record check is the last three years and type 3 shows the last 15 years then once an entry is 15 years old it is purges completely. Serious offenses stay on the record indefinitely. A reported accident does not indicate fault. Everything I read in Texas law says that anything above Type 2 check, the record will be released to the driver only. My last speeding ticket was over 6 years ago and I went to a DDC for ticket dismissal so that should not show up on my record but of course I told Wendy and the accident was over 15 years old and was preventable and my fault. I emailed Wendy and told her about the accident when I finally remembered it so I'm covered.

Well, I just typed in a massive post, then somehow hit some key or another on this new laptop and closed the browser, losing the post.
    GRRRRR.
UIpshot, had a long weekend over Labor Day, got a new laptop so I can now post often again, missed a double-booked load on Tuesday, had a load loaded so late I was sent on a local run to keep busy and when I got back to the shipper it still wasn't ready. Moved on to the next load, ran it and several more over the weekend since I had so few miles. Last night the shipper was so late getting this one loaded I was four hours late to the receiver. Getting unloaded now.
Bad week last week. Less than 2,000 miles, but due to holiday and two shippers completely messing up. So far I look much better for this week.
Will post again in a day or two, and hopefully this laptop will last and I won't be without again.
And Rumblebunny, dry socket is a major pain, I agree!

Sitting at home right now.Ive been back and forth from home in the last two weeks. My brother had been on life support for awhile and finally passed last night.Something like this will test you in this job.To Stevens credit they were able to get me home quickly.I chose to run a load from los angeles to chicago down on 40 instead of us 54 because of my brothers predicament. And yesterday I got the call from my oldest brother that it was any time now,I needed to head home.Home being Fort Worth.I had shut it down in Sayre because of this.Called up dispatch and told them to repower me in okie city so I could deadhead home. Thanks to Will in North Texas dispatch,Andy and one other guy in repowers, sorry I cant remember his name,I got home in time to say goodbye to my bro before he passed.Kudos to dispatch even though we are constantly complaining about you guys at every turn.Sometimes WE might nrrd to step back and understand the pressures and restraints that you folks have to work under also.THANKS AGAIN.Every body be safe.

I hated to have to take my co-driver back to the yard after a week out.He had had some bad experiences with one of his previous trainers and was happy,so he said to have me as his finish trainer. He said dont worryu about me.I wont go out with anybody but you.I told him I didnt know when I would be back.He said he didnt care,he would wait as long as it takes. Now that makes you feel good.Im gonna have to get with Bonnie to use one of my free truck payments on this one.At least I have one available.

Being Alaskan, Carharts are like the national brand. They are superb work clothes, tough in the toughest climates, and wear well. But they're not jeans. Wranglers are jeans. I wear both.

I am sorry for your loss, frogmeister. Having been through that with my own siblings and parents, I know how tough it is. It's also nice to hear you validate that Stevens does what their recruiter said they do...take care of their drivers when things get really bad, as they did for you. They might not perform like we want them to each and every day, but it seems like they did for you when you really, really needed it. It's the kind of treatment that makes you want to stay a while.

I only wish they had a larger presence in Michigan. Bummer.

frog, glad you got home, with much work and cooperation by the staff and drivers that were willing to repower to get you home. I always say the truth works the best, and I will always help another driver out in a situation like yours.

Came off of home today, and was dispatched to greeley CO... where I am tonight, waiting for the 8am DLD and then off to LA CA, 2 drops.... but get an extra 100 miles now, since I70 is closed to us for the winter.

Yes a dry socket sucks at home, had one in the past, I would hate to try and deal with that on the road...

Glad to hear from you again Smokr, hope this lap top lasts... and I have had posts just not post to the forum, and all I see is a white blank background... have to reboot. So now it is CTRL A copy before I hit post reply..
