It was your elevated blood pressure that triggered the red.

Now you know why you shouldn't fill your tanks BEFORE loading.
Just finished one of those 50 gallon shuffles myself.

FYI,guys in your blue truck book you should have a copy of the federal law that states your 400 lb exemption for your AP unit.If you dont have it,get it the next time you are on the yard. This is all the ammunition against the scale masters that wanna play games on your gross weight. They do not have a choice but to give you the exemption. It is a federal law.Use it.

Next time corporal, break that seal, save it,dump 500 lbs, because obviously the shipper doesnt know how much weight you have ,nor does the reciever.Take that seal and squeeze it back on.99 percent of receivers dont check to see if the seal is broken, just that the seal is on.When arriving to the dock, cut it like you normally would.Just sayin. You didnt hear that from me.Normally guys,if a produce shipper doesnt put the seal on themselves,do not put the seal on until you get close to the receiver. This allows you to keep better track of the product and your reefer unit. And could also save you the stress of what corporal just went through.

Coporal_Clegg said: I picked up a bulk load of carrots here in Ohio...<snip> So I drive the 80 miles and scale. BAHHH Im overweight. Im at 80560 gross. Call Stevens and they tell me to get the axles as close as I can and that Im legal at 80400 because of the APU... <snip>

Great post and replies from the other members. I learn something new every day and for that I'm grateful. However, what does "get the axles as close as I can" mean?

You slide the tires on the trailer (tandems) to even out the weight.

Why is it somedays your phone rings and rings as they need help with a load and then 2 days later in the same area I can't get a repower can't deliver early and can't drop the load at colton? 2 days of doing nothing. The joys of trucking.

Denalidad, the lease is a 2 year lease where you turn the truck in at the end of the 2 years.

You've got to stop being so hard on those DMs, TLea!
So you're hanging around Colton, eh? Does that mean you were one of the Stevens trucks in TA East?
Left there this morning. Dropped at Walmart, now in Salinas. Finally loaded tonight with 37,000# of Romaine heading for Dallas.
Out of hours. Spending the night in Growers Parking lot.
    Guess it could be worse.
And off we go tomorrow for another exciting episode of "Lost on the Highways".
