Check with Corporal_Clegg he is an Alliance lease operator now. He seems to be running hard all the time.

Funny about that. They sent me home on day two. The pain medication issue was easy to fix with a doctor's statement that I am off of them. The CPAP I have does not have a smart card so that held me up as well. On my way home I stopped by Tri State Truck Driving School and signed up for their class. I have good credit so no problem, tuition is financed. Monday I start class and expect there to be 7 or 8 students and 4 instructors. The school is 20 minutes from home so no more drive into Dallas. Monday, FEDEX will deliver everything I need so my CPAP will log data.

Disappointing about Stevens but that opened a new door for me so now I have to decide who I want to go work for. Not so easy a task as I have already spent the last 7 hours researching and reading blogs and posts.

Guess I'll have to build a decision matrix so I can compare companies and make the best choice.

Shiftylots is still there and seems he is doing pretty well. That young man has his stuff together.

    DenaliDad and Shiftylots Thank this.

lmao, one of the 900? drivers here in the yard...? o_O Honestly, when you're here for O2, you don't have ANY spare time. From 7:45 am to 9:45 pm and 1/2 hour for lunch and dinner.

The week between Christmas and New Year's is the slowest week, and that combined with the next two weeks are about the slowest period.
Miles can vary a lot by where you are, by where you're willing to travel.
Some drivers just don't want to go to Cali. That eliminates potential loads for them and they are more likely to sit.
If you're in the north central area, you may have to wait longer for a meat load since people tend to eat less meat right after the holidays.
But sometimes you're lucky and get a couple good loads that get you thru this period.

Slow weeks any national holiday. Christmas through mid january are also slow. As a solo driver who goes every where except canada I average 2800 miles a week. Some weeks are only 2200 and others are 3400. Depends on location and hours of service.

In denver tonight after training west winds, my new DM, and sapp bros on the chain bank procedures. Delivery in the wee hours and then home for more dental work. Sure wish I could find the driver with the worland wy load. I would take it to save him from the middle of no frieght wy. My DM is being no help.

Sorry about your trouble Spyderryder, it was nice meeting you. Good Luck in your new avenue, keep me updated.

Willies: Stevens training has been great for me so far. The instructors are all experienced truckers with a very forward and direct teaching style. You will get out of this what you put into it. I have found Stevens to have been honest supportive of my new career start. This is a training company who will teach you to drive safely, and that is more important than anything. There are a lot of guys going to school at any given time, and to some that can be overwhelming.

The class is split in two shifts, night and day so that you have more time to drive. Do not come here without having studied the Texas CDL manual, Chapters 2 5 6 11 14. If you have these chapters memorized you will be far ahead of the game. Stevens is here to direct those who have put in the work towards their own goals in trucking, they will not hold your hand. The faster you get your testing done the faster you are on the hill getting time learning to shift and maneuver the trucks.

Do not lie on your application. Stevens will work with almost any obstacle you have as long as you disclose any issues you may have. Hold back on them and they will send you home, seen it happen to 20 guys just this week.

If you have medical issues make sure you let your recruiter know. Even then the doctors at the facility may not clear you. If you do drugs.....just stay home, no room for that crap, makes me sick how many guys here failed this week. Oh Here is a story for you guys.

Was sitting in the lab right after I pissed for my UA, young kid comes out and hands the nurse his sample. Nurse checks the temperature strip on the side and it is only 70 degrees- not gonna work she sais. She calls in Mike and he takes this kid into the restroom to collect a sample again. The kid unzips his pants and ....tink...tink...tink a jelly jar falls out full of Urine. A JELLY JAR. Not one of those small ones either, a great big jelly jar!!! He was sent home within 2 hours. Stevens will send you home as soon as they have the results of these UA's, no questions asked. Not to mention you sign a promissory note your first day, so if you fail that test you will be paying for that out of pocket.....Fair warning!!

I have been more than happy with Stevens, the program has been good to me so far. I like the instructors and soke up more of there combined 200 years plus experience. If I had to say anything it would be that if you are ready to give your life to your career for now than this is the place for you. If you are coming for the school do the work of studying on your own. The instructors want to spend time teaching you the trade, not the cdl manual. Do not come here expecting someone to hold your hand or pat you on the back, it wont happen. This is a personal reward kinda place. No one has to go home with you but you. You will get from it what you put into it. Good luck too you in your ventures.

I made it from 3rd to 6th doing laps and then back down to third. Some parallel parking maneuvers, and straight line backing. Not to much so far but learning more by the minute. They have the class split up in two shifts now so that more people get more time. You were only 1 of the 17 guys that got sent home outta our group for med reasons. No fun for anyone, you seemed to have that all worked out though, good!!

    SU 101- 100% :biggrin_2558:

Little different for my O2, got an owner operator for my trainer. Really digging the fully turned up motor and no governor but enjoying most is the 13 speed. Took all of 2 seconds to figure and shocked at this pig being able to pull at 1k unlike the motor in the t700. Honestly, this t2000 is 10x easier to drive!

Heading to Arizona, then Cali, then Alabama... (Unless it changes (again))
