Well I've done my last Boston load for the season.
Done my time in h*ll!
These drivers are crazy when there is NO snow.
Deliver in the morning...hopefully.
Where's the desert SW when you need it!

Well my First month of grad fleet is over with. I'll do pretty #### good if I can keep the truck running. I was just down for 4 days in Denver getting the tranny rebuilt. Told my dm that, if the truck breaks down again, they're getting me a different truck!
-
Got to my receiver this morning with relative ease. Surprised me!
Of course, the warehouse people were a bit scarce, but they got me unloaded in reasonable time.
Sitting here in Greenland NH TA waiting for a load out. -
Wave at us as we pass.
We're heading from Chicago to Long Island for an 0800 drop. -
Made my drop and hook at 0800 at the north platte NE wally world. Hook up to the only empty which has a flat and the bead has broken loose. #### the drivers who drop these trailers. So call road rescue to find out the boss shop or loves. He asks which is closer. Same distance 1/4 mile so off to the boss shop. Boy it was a monday. The garage door jumps the track about 4 ft up. Get the tire replaced and have a load sioux city IA to southern NJ. Live load between 0700 and 1200 today. I am only 340 miles away 2 hours to get there. CSR says don't worry tyson will load you tuesday.
I called and checked load is not scheduled to be loaded until tuesday and they are FCFS 5am to 11am. So I am parked at the truckers haven with a great dirt lot right around the corner. -
Got in and out of Brooklyn fairly easily...as easy as one can, anyway.
Loading in BFE, PA and taking a load of mushrooms to St Louis.
Overnight. 888 miles.
At least they're light.
Getting pretty good on these overnight hauls. -
Went in to sign my bills after 5 hours loading time... had a good breakfast while waiting. Looked at the total weight, and my heart dropped.. 44,889....
24 pallets loaded to the 48 ft line... I drove over to the scale to see where I would be at... 80,360 gross, with 7/8 tank of fuel, and a full 75 gallon refer...
Call stevens, and yes Iowa allows 400 lbs for the apu. I will burn off 400 lbs of fuel by the time I leave Iowa... so off I go.... first scale is closed... second scale on 380 is open, and get to stop on the platform, and wait, then pull forward, and wait... and wait... then got the green light back to the interstate....
Toll roads here I come... no scales. I am legal now for all states, and will being doing the 75 gallon shuffle to New Jersey... And I am running a day early... anybody want a heavy load of beef trimmings????
Better you than me on those overnights, I just can not stay awake to do them.
BFE PA is that on top of the hill or in the valley below the ####? -
I'll meet you in Ohio.
Loading mushrooms this morning in PA, then off to St Louis -
'Shrooms and beef trimmings cooked on a hot manifold. A yummy dinner for two on the road!

Ok, TLeaHeart, Emulsified, maxwelltie and others, Thanks!
I've been following you guys for months now. You have done a great job of informing those of us looking from the outside in. I'm not much of a poster on forums but I have been looking and my list has shrunk down to two companies, Stevens being one of them. My question comes down to time. Does having a CDL already minus recent driving experience help in "ANY" way towards reducing the amount of training time? Don't get me wrong, I'm all for training, but some of us may not need the full dose. Are any of you aware of any part of the training process that having a CDL benefits the student and cuts short some of the training period?
