Smacked by the ol' Fickle Finger of Fate again!
My 'hot' peterbilt load I was preplaned on in San Leandro died, so they sent me to Salinas for a four pick load. Got them all in one afternoon!
Load is scheduled for Ft Worth, wednesday delivery, but we figured we could make it by sunday evening.
Student is happy. He'll make it to O-2 monday morning.
    Then the finger!
Turns out we can't bring produce loads onto the yard and they have no one to baby sit this load. It's Target, so getting delivered early is just not going to happen.
"Bring it on in and we'll figure out something"
    yea, right!
Figure on me sitting around 2 1/2 days twiddling my thumbs.
So repowering in Tehachapi for an Ogden bound load.
Means my student won't be there and just have to finish up his 35 days (wednesday).

Hey drivers, long time no talk. Just about finished with phase 1. Have 8400 miles and all my req are done. Still have a little over a week on my 35 but its just driving from here on out. Sitting in Ogden now on safety shut down. I80 is closed at the Utah border, Hope it opens up sometime tom so we can get rolling. Trainer has kids older than me but he has taken to me wellk so the experience all in all has been a good one. Been away from home 9 weeks already and gonna be another 6 or so before I make it home to the fam. Hey not to many people in Oregon handing out jobs so I have no complaints. Hope to get some more post in when I get my own truck, for now this phone is rather small to post on. Be well drivers, keep the straight and look out for shiny black top....!!!

    Dryver and nascarchuck Thank this.

hello all, new here, looking at trying to go with stevens for training but i have a question...i have heard the only way you can take your truck home with you is to either have a fence to park it in or to at least have camera's where you are going to park it...just curious if this is true...i am hearing alot of good things about this company there are only two that are so far willing to hire me because of where i live...this being one and cre the other...stay safe all

First year, they pick the place. After that, you can ask them.

As a company driver you must park the truck tractor and trailer at a drop yard or a kenworth.or peterbilt dealership or a thermoking dealership. No place else. As an alliance driver i must park the trailer at one of those locations and then i may take the tractor home providing local ordainances allow me to.

    DenaliDad Thanks this.

Well I made it out of Laramie. Been holed up at the Petro while WYDOT decided when to reopen 80 WB.
Tried to sneak out once, but the winds were too bad. I've only got 20,000 in the box and it was blowing me all over the road.
You love these light loads for MPGs until you have to run in the crosswinds.
Needless to say, this load isn't getting to Ogden by yesterday.
My first weather shutdown of the year.

This is one of those good news, bad news reports.
Stopped yesterday morning to air up a tire. Left truck idling.
Got back in and headed out.
Speedometer would max out at 7mph, even tho I was going faster.
Since the speedo was only registering 7, the truck would accelerate WAY beyond 62.
I backed it back down after hitting 75.
    (GPS shows speeds)
I'm on a tight schedule on this load to Austin, so the extra speed would be good.
Bad news: I was in California and after stopping for fuel in Tonapah, AZ it all went back to normal.
    Probably better for me anyway.
But I couldn't help thinking what 'mother' would say when the QC would register my averaging 70mph.
