That's a big load of crap. When you get to a shipper/receiver, put yourself on duty for 10 minutes, and then go to the sleeper. I do it all the time. I also have done many a 34 hour restarts in the sleeper. The kicker with the 34 hour is that you cannot be under a load (Steven's rule.)
I can understand and appreciate that.
but when somebody writes a paragraph like this.and doesnt use any spacing.or punctuation.it can be incredibly hard to read.its not a disease.its laziness.i dont know about your browser.but my browser actually puts a squiggly line under a word when i dont use proper spelling or grammar.just a thought.
Now that that is out of the way...there are also tools out there that can help people to grasp the English language a little better. Some of them are even posted in that sticky that you posted. -

Lets just drop the spelling and grammar thing PLEASE.
Just because someone has bad spelling doesnt mean they are dumb, there are several legit reasons why some cant spell.Gears Thanks this. -
Now hear this. Now hear this!
Well, fellow Buzzards...it's official.
As of 1000 this morning, Stevens started their switch to computerized dispatch.
Have taken the human element out of it.
Will be complete and up and running by monday morning.
So hang on!
It's more important than ever that you have your check call in by 0900 each morning. Without it, the computer doesn't see you having any hours available and will not dispatch you.
That is all. (for now!) -
I guess we will see how it works out.
Any idea how it will handle dispatching you home?
Or what about if you refused a load? Can they dispatch you manually? -
Well now the screwups will really manefest themselves. And yes there is human intervention possible. This is not new, as the computer has been recomending the dispatch for years. The difference now is the recommendation is not reviewed first by a human. A human will have to intervene every time the real world gets in the way of a stupid computer. Computer only have yes/no possibilities. They are fast but very dumb.

Actually Terry is 100% correct in an acedemic setting. Real world it does not work as freight would never get moved.
And stevens is going to have to rewrite their policy on 34 hour resets as the electronic logs reset your hours if the truck does not move for 34 hours.
Computers are quite stupid. Or stevens can pay for custom programming to enforce their policy on the 34. Expensive choice. -

Hmmm...Monday morning. The day I start training. I wonder if the instruction will be done by "computerized instructors." I wonder if the medical exam will be done by computerized doctors. Oh, wait...they already are computerized!
We will see! Oh, well. I am grateful for my life, no matter how miserable it might be(come) or what it ent(r)ails.

If the new HOS holds, everyone will have to redo their policies because of the new required time periods required for a 34-hour reset and the fact that it can only be used once a week.
TLH is right about computers; they only do what some programmer told them to do. Even that marvelous computer that beat the humans at chess recently did so with a huge number of very sophisticated computers and a very extensive library and some pretty smart programmers who worked for years at it. It was still a dumb machine. The human brain remains the only organ with the cognitive ability to quantify random thoughts and knowingly make the wrong choice at will.
