That's good. How long did you have to wait on a trainer after you started with the company.

Greetings Rooster14 and Strik9. Guess everyone else is either sleeping or driving. Hubby and I drive teams so I just got up to get ready for my 'shift'.

Rooster, I went thru Stevens school about 15 months ago, most of the people from the class were assigned to trainers within the first 3 days. The only times that there seem to be long backlogs are major holidays (the trainers want to take time off) and when Randell (the gentleman in charge of assigning the trainers) is on vacation, or if you are a non-smoker and want a non-smoking trainer.

As for going to places you want to go to...if you request time-off at a specific location for a specific time, they will work to get you there. If you mean, are you given a choice of where you want to go, No, you are assigned to go where they need you to go. I have managed to go to all of the 48 except North Dakota in the 3.5 years I have been on the truck with my husband, I have driven 45 of them in the 15 months that I have been driving.

The pay, etc, is always 'enhanced' (to put it nicely) by the recruiters. They give you figures for what the top earner, (who is also a senior driver, trainer, and gets tons of referral bonuses) got for his best year. I have seen it mentioned several times on here that you can expect to make around 30,000 the 1st year. My situation is totally different than most because we do drive teams.

Strik9, don't sweat the 'special reqs' part of the test, all of that will be thoroughlly covered in class. That is the only part of the actual test that is covered in class, the rest is 'study in your spare time' sort of thing so it's good that you have already been studying.

I wish you both the best of luck. It is a very interesting career to say the least. My hubby and I are in our mid-50s and have enjoyed the time on the road together (we have been on the road for our entire relationship). There can be stressful days, but there are plenty of days when you wake up to the most beautiful sunrise (or sunset, if you are driving nights) that you have every seen. It mostly boils down to, it is what you decide you are going to make it out to be. Enjoy and welcome.

    Rooster14 Thanks this.

It's 5am in Colorado Spgs, still windy PLUS snow has decided to join the party!! I'm a stickler for checking the weather, and this was not in the forecast earlier!! LOL Looks like if we are lucky enough to make it in for the delivery we will be stuck for a few hours. Supposed to be headed to Liberal for a load but right now Limon forecast states Near Blizzard Conditions. Everyone be safe out there.

Well I 'slept in' until 0730 this morning; start the coffee pot, open the computer to check wx and roads. I80...closed between Cheyenne and Rawlins due to winter wx conditions. Great...my day just got easier (sarcasm.) I will take my time and mosey over to Cheyenne (or as close as parking permits.) Hopefully, it will open up later today.

Having grown up in laramie I would not expect I80 to open todday. The winds are forcasted at 25 with gusts to 40. Weather pattern is very active for at least 10 more days until the jet stream moves.

Now what is the "new" customer in denver?
