I picked up a hitchhiker at the yard today...along with a hot load due in Canada by Fri afternoon. The guy just graduated and is going to recover a truck in Ann Arbor. Anyways, I am thoroughly taking advantage of him as there would have been absolutely no way I would've made the almost 1400 mile journey by myself! He is driving the 1st shift so that I can finish my restart...not too thrilled about that, but you do what you gotta do.

Finished his req today as we headed down Parely.
He's catching a plane in the morning back home to Dallas.
Good guy. He'll be a good driver.
In SLC tonight (where it's snowing), then grabbing a Hershey load tomorrow to head south and meet a north bound driver with my load home. -
. Let's see: He blew right past my main fuel stop, managed a whopping 350 miles in 8 hours, and couldn't even honor my 1 big request of not smoking in the truck (he "snuck" 3 of them when he thought I was asleep.)As a former smoker, I am allergic to cigarette smoke...plus it took me almost 3 months to get the cigarette smell from the previous driver out of this truck. And people wonder why I won't train...this just reconfirms it.
Ah but the story gets even better!!
Come to find out, he isn't even authorized to drive my truck! Daniel Worley gave him permission, but Kip, Corina, and Mother had a #### fit over it. After an entire day of complete confusion about what is going on, safety and compliance give him the go ahead to drive. Literally 5 minutes after I get off of the phone with Mother, I get a qualcomm message from Harold wanting this guy to call him asap. After listening in on his conversation, I learn that he didn't even turn his graduation qualification paper in (the paper with all of the signatures,) and he didn't get Harold to sign it. Now he has to go straight back to the yard before he can even recover the truck. I told Harold that I will take this guy to Ann Arbor, but then he was their problem.
All of this, and the load is still going to be late. Another failed attempt at trying to help Stevens out. -
Hopefully you want be training anyone when I finish with my school and you can be my otr trainer. You seem like you are willing to teach but the student not listening. But I want a good trainer I graduate the 16th. -

Especially at stevens. Yes I am one crancky old man. No miles setting 1 to 2 days between loads and then getting an 1100 mile run due on monday at a port forward company. No chance of an early delivery, and think I can get a repower? These two months are killing me.

Hang in there Tlea.Got the pool cleaned today, its ready for summer, sweet. Now got the red beans with pork hocks on the stove with oh so sweet cornbread ready to go.Man its nice to be home.I think Ill make some triple chunk brownies for dessert.
Corporal_Clegg Thanks this. -
Having a noobie grind on my truck, the one I am paying the maintenance on would be tough to take. I know you get more pay for training but my blood pressure couldn't take it. If I had told someone not to smoke in my truck and they do it anyway they would be sat on their roller bag on the next off ramp.
