I dont think that my grad DM looked at my trip plans. She wasnt a very good DM at all. Was really happy to get rid of her.
There was only one time that I can think of where I just plain screwed up the trip plan but no one caught it until after the trip. I dont remember exactly where I was coming from or going to but I went across 40 to OKC then north on 35 when I should had caught 54 out of NM.
Oh well... Live and learn.Smokeeater Thanks this. -
Well I got my load. Met the driver in Winslow. Now sitting at the Loves at Hwy 93 and I 15 east of Las Vegas.
Figure I'll head up the Alien Hwy tomorrow. -
My worst screw up in Grad Fleet was a load out of Holcomb. I was so use to heading down to the 40 and out to Cali, that I sent in the same trip plan I had done a week earlier for a meat load to LA.
Trouble was, this one was to the Bay area.
I was suppose to go up over the 80.
Got down to Tucumcari and figured I'd better look at the QC and find my Opti Stop.
Imagine the sinking feeling when it was Sapp Bro in Denver!
I just quietly snuck into Cali and ran up the 99. About 100 miles out of route.
It was the weekend and figured I'd lay low.
Monday the meat planner congratulated me for making delivery. Four others didn't make it...stuck in Reno as Donner was closed.
I kept quiet.
Couple weeks later I got the same load again. This time my DM commented, "Don't screw up and go the wrong way again! You won't get lucky twice!"DenaliDad Thanks this. -
I hated typing the trip plan into the QC. Screwed it up many times doing that step. Had the good plan written in my notebook, just had troubles conforming to the stevens trip plan.
Biggest screw up, coming out of maxton and read the junction signs wrong. Ended up running narrow no shoulder roads to get back on route. Still made my deliver in louisville KY on time. What a learning experience. Just found a turn off to stop and figure out where I was and what roads I needed. -
HA!!! BUSTED!!!!

Well, the trucking gods frown upon me. Friday I broke my fuel card in the pump reader. Been having to do fuel the hard way since. After talking to my DM he suggests I have a new fuel card overnighted to a truckstop out in front of me. I call and they say they can't do that, they can only send it to my home address. So I say okay, do that, I deliver a few hours away from home and can probably get there. I talk to my DM who agrees and moves my home date up so I can go get them this weekend since I am so close to home when I deliver. I call Jackie again and she agrees to throw an EZpass in with my new fuel card.
I get my load into Ottawa early and then given a load into NJ. So since it's Saturday, I call and ask for out of route miles authorization to get my fuel card at home. He says no. I talk to meat, they say no. So I say I am not going into NJ without an EZPass and without a fuel card, as I can't get any money to pay the tolls. He says just have my DM put some money on my card to cover tolls. Ugh. It's like talking to a mildly retarded fifth grader. They give the load to someone else. I call and ask for an empty to take home to get fuel card and hopefully the EZPass if they could get one in the package too. No, they say. We don't take empties out of there, and we don't bobtail out of there. If I bobtail out, I will have to pay for the miles to get an empty. I ask for an empty out of Morris or Lemont, where I got them while on Kraft dedicated. NO, they say. Seven hours later they want me to move a load off this yard and get it along the way a bit, and they will repower it later so I can get home. I know, I know. I say okay anyway, I have two and a half hours to go to make ten hours down, but I've been up all day on the phone and now it's 8pm, so I won't get it very far along before I'm too tired and/or my 14 ends. They find someone else here with full hours to drive it. Now it's Sunday and I'm still sitting here waiting for a load along with four other Stevens trucks. No other trucks parked here, just us. And I'm in no mood for friendly conversation. I just want off this little piece of purgatory.
I thought February had shaped up as a bad miles month. March is starting out even worse.
Moral of the story, always have your pay sent to your bank or onto another card so that if your fuel card cracks or becomes unreadable, you can at least get your pay.
Sub-moral, never leave the yard without an Ezpass and Prepass.
Sub-sub-moral, always have a stocked cooler or fridge and other food and needs on your truck.Last edited: Mar 4, 2012

Better moral.....
Get a new fuel card every year, whether you need one or not.
Thats what i did and never had to deal with "cracked card" syndrome. -
The first time a card reader doesnt read my fuel card, time for a new one.Homey dont play that game.Sometimes as early as three months.

and keep the old one in case you lose the good one.hopefully they can reactivate the old 1.
