I have a question for some of you guys that have been with Stevens for a while. What is the reasoning behind sending me on an 800 mile DH? I am getting the fuel surcharge on the DH miles (it was put across the QC to confirm). I know they must have other drivers in the area that can pickup the load. And I am not complaining by any stretch of the word: it's an 800 mile DH then 2600 loaded miles with plenty of time for me to do it.
I was just curious as to the logic behind such a decision.
Thanks!

Sounds like a load no one wanted? Seems very strange to send you 800 miles DH to get it, but maybe you are just lucky? lol good luck with it...

Recruiter talk..
Last I heard there were too many drivers that live in the southeast/florida region, and they have trouble getting them home, more drivers than loads. -
Yeah I figured as much. I'm pretty much resigned to "paying my dues" for a year or so. There are quite a few local jobs around here but they all ask for at least a year of exp..most ask for 2. So I will do what I have to do be where I want to be. -
Ok now I'm in Florida waiting for a juice load heading to Austin, man I'm seeing allot of TX, in my first 5 weeks of training. I start week 4 on Monday and still have no mountains and no North east or north west. Seems like this is gonna be tight.
-
sounds to me that your trainer is not doing his job. I would get with the training department on monday, and put a bug in their ear that you need the northeast, northwest, and your mountains. No sense in having to be a log book for a trainer, and not get what is required for you to move on. -
Formy, TLea is right. If you are not proactive about getting your regions and your mountains your training will be extended until it is complete. This happened to me. I had all of my mountains complete, however, I needed the northeast and northwest. My first phase of training was extended by an extra 10 days because of that requirement. The training department has a large amount of students and it can sometimes be easy to fall thorugh the cracks.
