IMPORTANT HAZMAT MSG FROM SAFETY: Effective TODAY, drivers with hazmat-related violations noted on inspections will be charged the normal $50 for a dirty inspection. In addition, if the driver did not call Safety or IRC for a pre-trip hazmat briefing (and to get a control number), the charge will be $100, which includes $50 for the dirty inspection and an extra $50 for the HM violation without having called in for a driver briefing before hauling the hazmat load.
Drivers will be asked to note the control number on the inspection report, and Safety will research every inspection with a HM notation to verify whether the control number was issued.
This is a good example of the kinds of things a driver should look at when applying to a company to drive.
There are all kinds of hidden charges that can come back to bite you.
I donk't know this company for sure, but I suspect I know based on a driver complaining about how he got nicked for this very thing.
Trouble is, he had complained about the condition of his trailer (had leaking brake chamber), but they told him to run it as is and they'd fix it later.
His fault. He should have stood his ground, but reality being what it is, he chose to do the easy thing, and got burned.
Many companies will 'penalize' you for forcing their hands in safety areas. Yes, they will begrudgingly let you sit because you refuse to run with no hours, but then they won't give you another load for three days.
This same company will fine you for too much idling.
Then there are those that run you in CA a lot, but don't have APUs.
I spoke with a pair of drivers from another company, this past week, that were charged back because they ran their reefers on contineous instead of cycle and consumed too much fuel.
In answer to your original question?
It stinks!
If the company doesn't like the way you do things, they should take their lumps and let you go.
There is always more to the story than one side.

Many companies have these type of policies due to the way they hire and manage the company. Would suck to be that driver.
On the flip side, some companies pay the driver an extra $50 for a hazmat load.
And some companies pay a bonus for a clean inspection. All depends on the mind set, punish behavior you do not want, or reward behavior you do want. -
Why is it so difficult to get the correct info on the load assignment?
Here I wait at pepsi with a pu# that does not go where the load says it is going. -
New Stevens Recruiting Video

Over sold, Over the top, Over acting. It has it all. But, for their target audience it will have them dreaming of a big house with a hot wife and a T700 parked on the driveway. Problem is in 2yrs you will be living in the T700 and the ex hot wife will have the big house. (maybe).
Dieselten77 and nascarchuck Thank this. -

I mean figuring their target audience and time and effort along with the amount of information provided..... I think it was well done. Now compare it to other half assed recruiting videos and it really looks better.

Thanks Emulsified. I've been waiting to see this. My hubby did most of the driving for the video and I tagged along!!
