I agree with what you have said but I am so glad that I work for an exception to the rule.

The company that I work for now was started in the early 80's. The founder and his wife both died of cancer just a few years later. The 4 kids got the business when the oldest was about 20 or 21.

These kids (now oldest is late 40's) have built this company into a very well respected name in auto transporting. From my understanding we now have 130 trucks and they are replacing the 8 small flatbed trucks this summer.

The kids are very involved in the company and are workaholics and they expect the employees to be as well.

They treat all of us like family. Unlike most trucking companies, our turn over rate is very low and morale is pretty high.

Anyway, I watched Stevens go downhill in the 8 months that I worked there. Its sad because I think that it would be a great place to work under the right leadership.

And yes, Stevens will FAIL in the tanker business.

at the present rate of decline, I doubt stevens will make it to the third generation. Remember we the drivers now have to support 4 families life style, not just the founders.

Unloading and loading the sand can be an explosive mistake, if the driver pressurizes the tanks wrong.

Still playing the babysit meat loads... waiting for the next truck to show up... Now why can't they just deadhead an empty to me? and save all this work? because nobody in dallas communicates with another department.

Regardless of what load I have when I am repaired, I am going home for my medical appointments.

Respect for the people making the decisions is vital to the effort and moral of the staff. Having the board room full of family that only have there jobs because of the gene pool they came from is a horrible decision by Mr Aaron.

    Respect?
This from the two brothers fighting over who can come to work in the most expensive car?
At least Angela has the decency to drive an Escalade.
    But Ferrari....Lamborgini?
    Mama Mia!

    Good ol' Ralphs.
    Appt at 1200. Arrive 1130.
They HOPE to have a door for me by 1700.
then a couple hours to unload and another hour to process the paperwork.

I make more money off detention than I do to haul the load!

another repower done to another 5 dropper meat load. What is up with LTL work? Is stevens that desperate?

Why do they refuse to send an empty? Monday will be fun, as I will not miss this appointment, takes 6 months to get another one. So my DM has some work to do Monday, as I am probably going to park the truck at the Kenworth, and rent a car to get home for my appointment, and then drive back and pick my truck up.

And I really don't care what they do with the load.

Ralphs still backed up on the street for hours to check in? and they have such a huge staging area. They must of looked at the original loves parking, and said that will be enough.

When I pulled up here, I couldn't believe my eyes.
    No line, no backup!
    Hot dog! My lucky day!
But I am still in the staging area waiting for a door.
The Stevens truck that had an 0800 appt is still in the door.
    this place is unbelievable.
    But it is union!

Also, they are 'creating positions' for 3rd generation!! All the 'smart phone surveys' and photo contests and other unnecessary QC messages are coming from one of those 'positions'.

Well sitting at the shop. Truck is being looked at and torn apart. And my DM had no problem finding an empty to send my way.

    Weekend crew sucks.

And he is looking to find a load going west for me.
