Made it home, although via the stevens direct route :biggrin_25523:Up, down, around, repower, instead of direct, which was very possible.:biggrin_25510:

Wind was blowing up a storm, and some snow flakes were mixing in with the rain...
But now, I will take an extended time off, and also make the graduation from engineering of a good friend.

Yes I know.Of course Bonnie went through her usual spiel of I dont think your going to like it.What would it take to get you to stay.I said you should have been thinking about how to get me to stay years ago.How about paying me what Im worth.I told her 15 cent raise on the Alliance side, lol. And home 3 days every two weeks.Like what would I not like about hourly and mileage pay, being home, paid time off that accrues, retirement, and I mean a pension, not just a 401K.Plus the fact that Im going to make more at my new position than I make training here.Pretty much a no brainer. It isnt a very hard decision.Stevens has been good to me,would highly recommend them to a driver starting out, which I was four years ago.But there is a point where you have the experience and can command certain things. The things Stevens is not going to supply me with.I was choosy.I wasnt going to leave for just any job.I researched this company and liked what I saw.I had a handful on my list.Walmart of course,Poly Trucking,Martin Brower,ABF,and Linde. Those were my top five.I landed one of them.Time to go.

how does bonnie know what I am going to like or not like. I don't like the fact that a driver can not grow within stevens... that is a foreign concept to them.

15 cents more per mile, I am surprised she did not laugh at you.

Yeah it was funny,I was going to say I dont think Stevens can offer me anything close to what Im being offered,so I threw out an outrageous number to pretty much bring the conversation to a halt. And it had the desired effect.Im still pinching myself. This is a good job.But of course starting at the bottom of the pole again.Im sure Ill get a lot of crap stuff the first year.Time to pay some more dues. Its almost comical that Bonnie thinks there is anything Stevens could possibly offer me that would keep me from taking this job.I know she has to try.

Sergeant, this is a Stevens thread, and Im a Stevens trainer. This is where you talk to the real Stevens drivers and not the yahoos that are disgruntled and couldnt cut the mustard for one reason or the other. You always get more disgruntled posts than positive on these sights.Happy drivers dont post on negative threads. For training Stevens is the best out there.Fiqure out what you want and make your decision based on that.Talk to drivers from that company.Do not let the negative posts by disgruntled newbies that know nothing about the industry sway your decision.Go to the truck stops and talk to the drivers.Thats where you get the skinny. Not on these negative sights.

well you come to the aviary, where we the drivers discuss the truth about stevens and say you have not seen to much good about stevens. Sounds to me you have already made your mind up.

Stevens will give you good training. That and your needs should be the deciding factor in which company you choose.

The dash on my truck says 8.4, the Qc says 7.8, which one to go by? The Qc is add on, I'd think the truck knows what's burning better than the add on crap..... What do you guys go by more?

I went through school at Stevens, did my time with the trainers and as a solo driver. I am no longer with Stevens.

If you want my honest opinion I feel that the education was good and the training was great. Solo had its ups and downs but I think that Stevens is probably the best of the "training" companies.
