Thought process???

Phone call this morning went like this;
Z. Can you make denver by 6am tommorrow?
Me no problem, wherere?
Z. Whole foods
Me. Okay
Z. I will set it up then. Click

Few minutes later phone rings again

Z. You have chains?
Me. I just came over 70 so yes
Z. You need to be extra careful with this produce
Me. Oh I won't freeze the strawberries
Z. Where you at? West winds?
Me yeppers parked right beside the strawberries.
Z. You sure you can make the delivery on time?
Me yes I will be in aurora at 6pm.
Z. Okay can't be late.

Two more phone calls later I finally get the load and then head back over 70 to denver. Produce did not find it funny when I said I won't freeze the berries.

Lots of stress, less communication, and more mistakes are being made.

Computer dispatch still is not working, as the people continue to fight it.
Millions of dollars tied up in the new division that is not producing any income.
Lost customers/loads due to late deliveries and competition.
A strong manager leads, a week one reacts with stupid commands. Ie call all drivers about proper operation of temp setting.

 

Bad emu bad. Violating company policy that the e-logs automatically do!



My 90 days is up thursday. I used to try and be proactive about getting to the yard. Now I just let the brown stuff hit the fan and watch the fun.

Me in denver, then to the meat patch, probably be a week before I arrive. Hard to find anything going south around denver.

 

Oh and by the way west winds is now a pilot. They were stocking the shelves with all the required garbage today.

 

Hey, maybe they'll run that Peterbilt load over to you to run into Sanger!
I figure I can make it to Effingham tomorrow if all goes well.
We'll see if they can catch me. if not, I'll be in Colorado the next night...maybe make Denver.

 

Just got to the yard, not much on my sheet thank god.

 

Everything is becoming a pilot or a j now it sucks

 

They really are changing the way the highways look, I agree, too many independents going away. The large fleets buy all their fuel from the big boys and none from the mom and pops so it's inevitable.

 

I use to like stopping in raphine,va at whites now its a petro.. The bosselmens. Were a good stop but now the ones in big spring and desmoines are flying j's. The one in grand island aint what it use to be like when stopping their. It be nice to able to stop somewhere and have a decent meal most the time I'm stuck with a choice of dennys or subway or that god awful pilot flyin j pizza
