Sure was. Get there early, park in the lot to the right of the guard shack. Then when it was your time, they got you unloaded with no B/S.
Then had a place to park while waitin on the next load.

Nice to have a place that cares about getting the work done more than they care about getting a lumper to do the work for them ... when they decide to move their azzez and get er dunn that is.

Drivers have been known to arrive at the meat patch, looking forward to a long wait, and have 'chatted up' the guard or 'shag' driver to find out which loads are ready and where they are going. They then call in and DEMAND to have their load swapped, usually only works for O/O, a few Alliance drivers who have certain DMs, and select Senior company drivers. My husband had someone do it to him when he first went Alliance and we talked to a new company driver at one meat patch that had been waiting 2 days and his load had been changed 3 times because of it!!!

It is encouraged and recommended, but not required. Some loads do go to Canada so without one, you will not get those loads.

    Unkl L Thanks this.

How is a driver to do his job when the office staff do not do their jobs? I spent yesterday afternoon go back and forth between central clearance and safety get all the safety holds cleared because people where not pushing the correct buttons. Rhen central clears me so my truck can be worked on. Even though they have had 4 days. But once again, somebody did not put the correct info in the computer, and I am not clear, so here I sit for another day due to office staff not doing their job.

    And nobody cares.

    TRKRSHONEY and Rattlebunny Thank this.

Of course they don't, they are getting paid (either hourly or salary). We are a necessary inconvenience to them, doesn't matter if we are getting paid or not. I don't understand why we don't get paid a small daily rate while we are on the yard, at least after the first 24 hrs. Would probably force everone to make sure they dottedthe 'i's and crossed the 't's.

That is a very good idea, detention pay after 24 hours on the yard.
