And that is more or less what I was asking. I am in the same situation. My kids are off at college and oldest is in Irag. Have an ex - but dont want her traveling with me LOL! But would love to be able to take my home time in different parts of the US as I have family/friends all over. I dont have to take "home time" in any one place.

Hey people. I been doing ALOT of research with stevens. I start Monday in Dallas. I am nervous because its something I want to do, but i just have bad luck... Everything seems good. I was worried about my driving record, bc Swift and USA TRUCKING turned me down with 3 moving violations in 3 years.. Swift claims I have 4 moving violations in 3 years but whats weird, Stevens is saying its 3 moving and what appears to be a driving without license. I asked over and over is it going to be a problem and this lady mrs lou said everything is ok and has placed my in the hotel. She said she doesnt understand why these others are giving me a hard time. She says that the 4th thing on my record is not going to affect anything. Anyway, one company I dealt with is Drivers Solutions in Ft. Worth. The other is Swift. So far everything is going smooth with Stevens. I got kinda scared because of some bad reviews on consumer reports, but just like with every company, you are going to get bad and good. I know this cause I been in the Satellite and cable business for 8 years. Well Im excited and nervous at the same time. My step dad and uncle where truckers. So I kinda know what to expect. Well yall pray everything goes ok. So far out of 5 different place, Stevens has moved the quickest, has the most GOOD review and has a super nice recruiting department.

Keep us posted how it goes - I will be there on the 2nd. Should have been there with you too - but moved it back for dental appointment so I could ensure all was done before I started.

I hope for your sake those 4 things don't come back to haunt you. I know what you mean with the nerves though. I just got an acceptance letter from Millis and a call from Roehl. Now I'm just nervous as all get out! lol

    Good luck Flex!

Just be sure and list everything in writing that they ask, i.e. citations, accidents, any health issues such as BP. Many of these issues are easily resolved if listed, however, omission makes employers think you are being dishonest and nothing will get you thrown out faster than dishonesty. And also remember: If it isn't written down, it was never said!

    Ok - another question......

Which CDL/DMV Manuals should I study. I have my DL and (had) my CDL permit from GA, however I know reside in Ky with family and havent changed anything over to Ky yet.

Should I study the CDL for TX, KY or GA before I head to Stevens on the 3rd. Any ideas/help would be appreciated.

If you are planning on attending the Stevens school they will have you get your initial CDL in Texas. After that you can go back to your home state and switch it over. It is cumbersome but that is how they do it.

So Texas it is - I'll down load that from their web site and dive into it. Anything special other than the normal stuff I should pay attention too?

O.K. I am at the point of putting in a QC 34. I have messaged and left voice mails for my counselor. I have had my trainer call everyone we could think of. I am entering week 6 my NE dock will be bumped today but still no mountains or NW. We now have a pre-plan to TX. I am at the point that I want to bump the dock tonight and walk.I'm tired sick, frustrated with dispatch and hemorrhaging money.I want to work for Stevens but it seems that dispatch would rather run us as a cheap team since I don't get paid mileage. I just sent a message to my counselor which she won't get till Monday telling her she needs to call me.( I have only talked to her once in 5 weeks even though I have sent messages and called) Otherwise my next message will be a 34 on the QC. That vent out of the way hope all is well with everyone, and that truck was found behind a waffle house in TN I think.:biggrin_25510:
