Two more dropped by graduation this afternoon. Only 8 made it, a few have rolled back a week. I am under no illusions about it. I am guessing only 4 of us will make it through the 8 week training weeks. As Unkl L said... it's not for everybody.

I bet that not 1 out of those 8 will be there in a year.

So I have been reading this thread for a couple of days now. I just signed up to go to school on the 18th. But I have to ask, is it truly that so many people don't make it because the life is not for them or is there some other issue? It just seems crazy that so many people don't make it. Honestly has me a little worried now.

During school its mostly medical reasons or they just cant pass the school and/or tests. Once out on the road with a trainer its because they just dont like being on the road and being away from family. After training its because they arent making the money they though that they would make (most of my reason).

My advice to people that ask (even though you didnt :D ) is to go to the school, do the training and shoot for 1 year experience OTR with Stevens. After the year, move on to a company where you can actually make a decent living.

Pretty sure I will be, I come into this with no illusions and as much as I didn't like my last job or company, I was there 9 years. I also planned this out and set myself up financially so I am good with the bills for about 6 months if I never see a paycheck from Stevens. I am not saying I will retire from here, but I can work anywhere for one year... after that I will reevaluate, but we'll see.

    Corporal_Clegg Thanks this.

I welcome all advice, that's why I posted! :biggrin_25519: That's pretty much what my plan is. It just seems crazy that people would not do there part of the contract just because they don't like being away from home. Just to make sure I'm not crazy, 30 to 35 is what I was thinking first year. Is that about right?

I thought the same thing. I knew that I would be the last one from our class, but I was wrong. Just make sure that you truly have a stockpile of money because you will need it.

30-35 as in thousands of dollars? I know that a select handful will disagree with me, but I wouldnt expect that. I made no where near that. After Stevens took outr all of their deductions, I was lucky to AVERAGE $300 give or take a week bring home. My three lowset checks were $45.00, $32.38 and -$136
