Frog's got it right, the first year is paying your dues to get experience, after that there are local or regional jobs paying $50-60K if OTR is not for you. I think the only way to make $50+ at Stevens is to have a trainee on board full time.

Emulsified, I hope that I can get a trainer as good as you seem to be. It really sounds like a roll of the dice for what kind of trainer you will get.

I sure hope I get a trainer like u. Need someone to guide me in right direction as I am lost about how to live on road as a trucker. Don't mind eating cheap and taking good advice.

Well the saga of the Qualcomm, operated by the Box of Rocks continues.
Today, I left York, NE and ended up in Ft Bridger, WY.
According to the QC, that's 662 miles. My speedo says 725 and my GPS says 729.
And, get this...I had 13 minutes left on my 11.
Before approving everything, I noticed some red exclamation marks next to the entries and part of my graph was not blue...but red.
    Hmmmm, says I, I says....this is peculiar!
I called safety and they did a head scratch over the phone.
    "Well, don't worry. You're legal."
And I approved it and now I can only wonder what mother is going to say.

I did notice that the clock readout was stuck on 3:00 for a very long time. Then later it was stuck on 2:52...again, long enough to drive from Rawlins to Wamsutter.
I"m beginning to feel like Rod Serling is going to pop out any moment with THE music.
    do do do do, ....

Oh, one more question for you technically advised... what does the flashing red triangle mean? It happened on and off all day.

The red traingle and red graph means you have sensor failure and the e log is not accurate. I can't believe safety says you are legal, as mother was very quick to call when mine turned red. I was required to manually change the drive line and not trust the sensor until I had been to the QC shop. This day will suck. Arrive at my receiver in taunton MA at 0700 for my 0800 and this place is a cluster. I am the last truck in line, they only use 8 docks which are all full, and there are 9 trucks ahead of me. FCFS facility.

Now you're in my neck of the woods. During this time of year - Tourist Season - it's best to avoid going south on I-495 or MA 3 at any point during daylight hours. Cape Cod is a major beach goer destination once the days get long and clear ... just like today. Sometimes the traffic jams in SE MASS can be parking lots for hours stretching for miles. Fridays and Saturdays are the worst. :biggrin_25523:

I wish I could tell you that there's anything trucker friendly in the Taunton area ... but there's really nothing. I smile that you're in the area:biggrin_25519:, but I feel your pain. Even those of us from New England hate driving a big rig here. Hope all goes well.

There is a whole pit truck stop just off 495 and US1.run down owned by pakistans charge to park, except on weekends. Actually had good food across the street. About 15 miles away. My final is on the north side of boston at 0600 monday. Will be checking out another whole in the wall truck stop.

I've actually bypassed Boston when I've had that much time and headed for the TA in Greenland, NH. You'll be out of route, but at least you'll be out of the city on a hot weekend. Not that the TA is anything to write home about ... last time I was there the pee bottles had just about taken over the woods surrounding the place ... but the cook did a fair job in the restaurant.

I used to go from there to home in Hermon, Maine ... once upon a time.

That is my back up plan if the other one is bad too. This is what I dislike about the north east and multipule drops no place to hang out without being harrassed. And waisting all those miles and log book time unpaid.
