Tanker Division lost a big account, but Dave's still running it. (spoke with him this afternoon)
Things look skinny there, but he's optimistic.
He and I agree on a couple things:
The competition for good drivers in the oil fields is very high. Stevens doesn't pay enough to get those drivers.
What is left is less than good, or newbies. Both are proned to mistakes and screw ups.
Personally, I don't think he'll get what he needs to make that division work, but time will tell.
But as of today, the division is still operating, there are still drivers, just one fewer account.

Just returned from the northlands. New Brunswick.
Temps were nice...58 to 65. Will have to adjust now. Picking up in NH tomorrow and taking to Columbus.
Actually made that meat drop in Moncton on time. Made it from Ann Arbor to Montreal the first night. 4 mins left on my clock.
Then 1031 km the second night, again...4 mins left.
If you see a guy with a blue face and funny mustache, that's me. I'm holding my breath for a 'thank you'.
    In Kennebunc, ME tonight.

One of their biggest problems is that they have qualified, experienced tanker drivers in the reefer division, but refused to allow them to transfer. They chose instead to hire new grads.

True. I had spoken to them. I have 8 years experience with straight bore tankers. I could be a trainer for them. But they won't take the refer drivers.

Ain't that the truth, no 2 trainers are alike. It's good to get lot's of advice from lots of folks, just learn how to weed thru the occasional baloney you'll get and you can learn a lot from the veteran driver's.

Hubby has 20 yrs experience, same reply. It's also interesting that one person is told that they have suspended operations and laid off the drivers while they 'regroup' and you are told, just a couple of days later, something totally different!!
