At the Holiday Inn Express in Dodge City, waiting on DLD. Promised by DM that his 'back screen' showed that it would be ready on Thursday @ 1400. We knew how relible that 'back screen' tends to be, so we will leave just before the DLD. After that, headed for D.C.

Actually, stevens will still get paid for training you. See the school is ONLY to get your license. The actual training is done by a trucking company, and they get paid for every person that goes through the training program.

To make the additional changes required to support a training company, and a freight moving company would take some very strong management skills, and a total change of attitude from the owner down to accomplish. NOt in Stevens future.

The government doesn't reimburse or pay Stevens for the CDL school part. That's a tool they developed (like other companies) to draw you to the company.
The training that the government pays Stevens to complete is the O1-O2 part.
They are not in business to train for other companies. Their business model is a training company. There are quite a few drivers that have been at Stevens for many years. But most move on because they can make more money, they want something different, they don't need or want to have their hands held or other reasons.

Guess I'm coming back out of hiding.

In OH with a 4 drop meat load, that starts delivering midnight on the 6th in and around Albany. I could have snagged a repower going to brooklyn but ya know what.... I DONT THINK SO :biggrin_2556:. I rather have my hand caught in a meat grinder than take another trip across the GW lol.

I can make this work out good though 1500, will make it to the first drop a day early and with a Pilot right across the street. Swing a 34 hopefully and haul butt back south. Should be able to turn this into a 3000mile week with any luck.

What makes me irresponsible? I would hope im semi responsible if i gotta load and delivery gas and diesel fuel all day long, just making a point that drivers these days are wimps. Just keep being a company pet it will get you far in the stevens world.

Just finished week two in Stevens school. Seems like a pretty solid program to me. I am pretty confident out on the road, but still need work on parallel parking. I'll be doing the road test next Wednesday or Thursday. The plan is I will be on my way to Dallas a week from today. Wish me luck.
