That's if you have driving experience. If you don't, then you have to do I believe six months solo before any lease is possible.
Recruiters should know for sure. You can also call them and ask to talk to an Alliance rep. They are the lease division and their offices are in the same building as the recruiters and the school. -
One other interesting development today.
Our class was set for graduation and to be assigned training drivers at 4pm today as per our class schedule revised early last week.
So, at 3:50 we were congratulated by our instructor and all that and taken downstairs to the guy who assigns you your trainer driver who you will be leaving out with on Saturday morning.
He had left early.
No one was assigned their driver trainer or had any idea when they would be heading out or who with.
We were told to come back Saturday morning to find out.
Except me. I was told to come back Saturday morning to check in then come back to the hotel to wait until Monday morning so I could go back and check in again and start calling around back home to have someone fax back some kind of paperwork that might make some buy in Safety happy that I was taking care of my invalid, death-bedded mother.
Frankly, the more I think about it as I sit here on Christmas Eve a thousand miles from home and family, the more insulted I become. -

It's bizzare, but they can do it. No law says they have to reveal all their hiring criteria to a prospective employee. That's insane and a law should be created to protect folks, but none exists for now.
All I have to do is probably call my second choice company, Werner, who allows pets, and let them know what's happened and I'm willing to bet they will ship me out to their location and probably road test me and maybe put me on a training truck earning some money. They would probably pay my tuition from Stevens schooling. Hopefully they wouldn't put me through their schooling, as I am growing short on funds rapidly and another three weeks of schooling would bankrupt me.
Right now I"m happy I have my CDL and some awesome training and it's Christmas Eve and I'm in a new state and city for a change, got plenty to eat, drink, cable TV, a warm bed, clean clothes, wifi internet, my laptop and my mobile phone so I'm in touch with family.
Merry Christmas all! -
It may not be a law but any company on the up and up would tell you before you put you money down in their school.
Werner will reimburse you up to 6K I believe. They do not have their own school so you do not have to worry about that. They will not make you pass a test, they will give you a bus ticket to wherever you will have orientation and away you go.
What happened to you is why alot of people caution against going to a company school. Because they can disqualify you for working for them, yet you are still on the hook for all of the training costs. Others have said that they do not care about you they are just looking to make the money on the school.
It sure seems like they were correct. That is why I went to Roadmaster. I owe nothing to any company.
I have made friends with Werner drivers and they are very happy over there.
I wish you the best!
God Bless and Merry Christmas!
ps. I am impressed that you stood by you mother the way you did! -
I am a lease driver. As soon as you finish your training, you may go pre-alliance, which is 45 to 60 days, where you must do 10,000 miles per 30 days, make all your pickup and deliveries on time, and complete your circle of service QC messages.
Most companies that deliver to Wal Mart have started the NO pet policy. there are some food warehouses that will not allow you onto the property if you have a pet on the truck. -

Sorry you got caught with some obscure rule/qualification at the last moment. From your point of view and mine in your shoes, it shows just how many people have control over you, and they do not communicate with you at all. The departments also do not seem to communicate with each other very well, they each are there own little kingdom.
Keep your chin up, as I see you are doing from your other post, enjoy your christmas, and don't miss those check ins, that keeps Stevens paying the bills while you wait.
