Not great for a team, but cuts down the dead-head getting to Detroit. When hubby first started with Stevens the closest they would ever get him was Chicago. He lucked out a couple of times and got a 'local' run from Chicago into MI, but it was usually dead-head from Chicago. We are now running into the same problem trying to get into Knoxville, TN now that I am driving. Before I started driving we did several repowers in Knoxville, now they want us to dead-head from Murfreesboro, or occaissionally from NC.

Got our load assignment, Florida natural going to Stockton, CA. Leaving out of here tomorrow am. Good miles, and if the timing is right and I can talk my trainer into stopping, I might get to go to church in Tucson.
TRKRSHONEY Thanks this. -
Congrats!! I told you there were loads out of Florida's Natural going to Cali.Dryver Thanks this.

Nice load! Keep it quiet, unplug the QC, lots of Buzzards would like to take that load off your hands.TRKRSHONEY Thanks this.

Teams have the highest priority with the load planners. There just aren't enough to move all the loads that require teams.
However, there are some DMs that don't care about any truck not on their fleet and try and 'steal' those loads from teams to keep their drivers going. So if you are running one of those loads and someone is trying to take it, just say no! As long as you can deliver on time and legally, you don't have to give it up.
And the other group to be wary of is the night/weekend crew. Our job is to move freight.
Period.
There are some that don't care at all about the driver, just the need to repower another load.
So they promise anything and will out and out lie, so they can get the job done.
Personally, I won't even call a truck if the repower is too lopsided. How can I look a driver in the eye and say, "yea...give up that 1700 miles for this 143 mile load in trouble, empty out in Cheyenne on Saturday. It's good for you!"
Sheesh!
Remember...you have to do what's best for you.TRKRSHONEY Thanks this. -
Since Fozzy is with a trainer he should be good. Can't see the trainer letting that load go.
Emul, seems we keep getting those calls to swap a 1700 mi run with a 5000 lb load for a 500 mi, 3 drop around PA or NYC with a 42000 lb load. We politely tell them it doesn't make good business sense. We have been 'threatened' that 'you'll probably be hearing from the Aaron's', we tell them to feel free to call.KMac and Corporal_Clegg Thank this. -
That's the best response. The Stevens 'rules' have always been that if you can deliver on time. legally and safely, you can keep your load without repercussion.
Until the time the people that blow off repowers, fail to deliver on time or even pick up their assigned loads are held responsible, I wouldn't worry. -
Our repower 'slipped across the border' during shift change last night. We called in 3 times checking on it, but no body actually looked to see if it had crossed until 3:30 this morning. First drop was due in Dallas @ 0800, trailer got to us in New Braunfels about 09:30. When we got to drop in Dallas it was a cluster as usual. Never could figure out why the driver wasn't checking every couple of hours to see if the trailer had arrived, we set our alarm to check when we are there.

We will actually be looking for a repower around Kingman AZ. That way we don't have to sit on it until Thursday. I'm sure there will be a load in trouble over there.

send me your truck number. I'll be looking tomorrow morning
