The driver knew that he was not supposed to make 'side trips'!!! When I was a student, we were told to catch the Stevens shuttle which runs to America's Best at least twice every afternoon!! The Stevens driver is free to make those side trips because Stevens is paying him/her, not the hotel. If all the people on the shuttle went in to cash Tchecks or buy something it would delay their next scheduled run considerably!!

Just like working for Stevens or anywhere else, if you aren't going to follow the rules/policies, then you shouldn't be working there!!

There are a few Freightshakers but the ProStar, I have only seen one. Actually yesterday when I got to the yard is the first time I saw it. I dropped a trailer right next to the one it was hooked to. I believe it pulled out today. Not sure if there sre more, but that is the first I have seen.

The Prostar was one of those Aaron "we have choices" deals. You can tell when it's time to negotiate a new deal of any kind. Suddenly a new tractor, trailer or other hoohaw turns up, parked under Steve Aaron's window. You can bet they are in the middle of negotiations. Aaron's famous line to the seller is, "yes, I know we've been Paccar for ages...but I want you to know we have options."
Rememeber about a month before we purchased 1,000 new Utility trailers (our regular brand)? A Great Dane with all the Stevens logos and paint was hooked to a new Pete and parked out in front of the Driver's lounge. It had some facaca number like 30012.
Somewhere in the fleet, we have one Great Dane trailer (renumbered of course). I pulled it once.
But Utility dropped their pants and made a sweeter deal.
The original Freightliners were 6, parked at the gate where the Paccar officials would see them as they drove in to begin negotiating the T-700 deal. Funny thing is, we found they got better fuel mileage and the drivers loved them, so we've purchased a few more since.
Are we going Freightliner? Not on your life...unless Paccar gets too big for their britches.
Just a negotiating tool that is very effective.

Well, I guess I will be joining Stevens probably in Dec. 2012. I looked at other trucking companys and it seems like Stevens is the best yet hands down as far as sponsored cdl training goes. And if it is a family type atmosfeer from what I hear, that would be an extera plus in my book. I love working with companys like that.

My point is that he is ripping off the students. Stevens puts an extra 2 dollars on there to cover the cost of cashing and instead of being satisfied with that the jerk charges 5 bucks. Since if you are riding his shuttle you are stuck cashing your check at his rates you are screwed. I just think that is wrong.

Get used to it, the industry is littered with thugs like that>some even sign pay checks that they charge a driver to process (per diem).

    Corporal_Clegg and TRKRSHONEY Thank this.

Not defending the guys rates, but is you pay deposited on your fuel card? How much are you paying to use the ATM to get it? I have a good chuck put in my checking account but only get that as cash back at Wally World if I need it. I get hit twice using it. Sucks but it's a cost of doing business with Stevens.

My finish trainer had a Freightliner. Had 17,000 miles on it when I got on his truck. It was nice! I loved it. That was his second FL.

I have everything go to my credit union. They refund me any Atm fees others charge. I only get hit once on transfer. I may only scan trips once a week once I get into my own truck.
